Make sure you get your glasses sorted, some do make mistakes. I struggle with the ones I use for driving only tend to use after dusk only probably if I wore them more maybe.

    Have a good weekend.

  • Morning all,

Just thought I'd call in for a quick update. Sorry for my absence, I have been away in London last week on a work course and then had a family wedding over the weekend.

Firstly, I've now got used to my glasses thank goodness, I went back and they needed slightly adjusting to sit properly.

I got paid on Friday but sadly I had to pay for various things including the majority of the cost of my glasses and sunglasses so I won't have much surplus this month (if any). The DD to the CC has gone out reducing the total to £3720 :) .
I have my car insurance due next month and a stag do to attend so that will be an expensive month as well.

In other news I've opened up a new CC on a 20 month 0% purchase deal (Nooooo, I hear you say!). I've thought long and hard about this but at the moment I need to make a couple of purchases that I'd like to spread payments over multiple pay days with no interest costs. The card will not be kept on me and I will not be loading the details into any sites etc. I believe I'm now disciplined enough to only use it for the intended purchases and I will not put unnecessary spends on it (the reason I ran up my debts in the first place).

    I hope everyone is ok.

Just a quick update. Managed to get my car insurance sorted yesterday for £280 for the year which I'm very pleased with (I was expecting it to be around £350). I went through quidco so as long as it tracks ok etc I should get £40 cashback from that too! :) (although it hasn't tracked yet!)
I put it on the new CC but it will be paid off in full come payday.

Spent the day in the garden yesterday building a chicken coop, moving two compost bins (full) from the area destined to become the chicken run and taking a lot of garden rubbish (bits of old shed etc) to the tip. I'm glad I decided to do that all yesterday as the weather is shocking today! I'm about to measure up the bathroom window for a new blind and am then going to chill.

I hope everyone is having a good BH weekend.

    Morning all,

I just thought I'd check in as I hadn't been on here for a while.

As predicted it's been an expensive month. I've paid the majority of the stag do costs which I'm attending this weekend and have had various other unavoidable expenses which meant I've been unable to debt bust any further.

I get paid tomorrow and the first plan is to pay off the car insurance that got put on the new CC to clear that. then I need to have a look at what I've got coming up in June to enable me to budget correctly and hopefully then I'll be able to make more than the DD payment of £150 to the CC. I'd love to get it to £3500 before next payday but we'll have to see how things go.

Well, the sun is shining so hopefully it will be a good day :)

Just a quick update. £150 DD went to CC to bring down the balance to £3570. Hopefully I'll be able to make another payment later in the month but I don't want to stretch myself.

Hi all, sorry for my absence. Not much debt busting has occurred this month due to various commitments and unexpected dentist trips etc.

My £150 DD has just gone out to reduce it a little but nothing else to report.

Ok as always returning to the forum and reading other diaries gives me a little kick up the backside. I've tweaked my budget and have just sent another £120 to the CC meaning that including both payments the total now stands at £3300 :)

I'll go very careful with my spending this month and then hopefully next month I can get the balance below 3k.

With regards to the new CC I opened up. I bought an emergency kitchen appliance on it which we've just paid off so it is handy having the facility as long as you are strict with it. I've closed down the old CC that we used as a joint CC and we are now using the new one (only if emergencies arise).

    I hope everyone is well.

    Regards
    Dan

Hi All, I'm just looking at my last post date, wow poor show hey! sorry.

Anyway it's turned out to be an expensive time since my last posting with various expenses like attending multiple weddings, camping holiday in Wales, home improvements, etc which have meant that I haven't been too successful at debt busting :-( I found a strange stain on my suit jacket which after the dry cleaners failing to remove resulted in me panic buying a new £200 suit from Moss the day before a wedding.

The CC currently stands at £3100 although payday is Monday so I WILL finally bring it below the £3k mark then. I have had to spend on my other CC and therefore paying that balance off at the end of the month has to take priority so that I don't end up building up the balance on that because we all know where that leads...

I'm not going to make any more promises in this post about slashing the debt by a lot next month because whenever I do something always crops up meaning I can't commit to it. Instead I am going to say that I plan to be extremely cautious with my funds. :)
  • Just logging in to announce that I've just sent a payment of £250 to the CC. I'm now below £3k with it standing at £2850 :T :j

This month looks to be expensive so I will report back later in month with how things are going regards reducing my debt further :) Like I say I have a small balance on the other CC that I need to eliminate.
  • Just had a read from beginning and want to say well done and keep going.
