Afternoon all,
Well I believe it's time for an update...
Firstly, I have got my CC down to a balance of £2600 :undecided
Why am I not ecstatically happy I hear you ask?!?!
Because I've been a plonker and had a set back. :embarasse
That other card I got which had the outstanding balance, yea I haven't cleared it!
In fact I've added to it so I need to add it here and increase my debt amount to reflect it
The balance stands at £1320 !!! (£200 is joint so will be paid from joint account). This is made up of buying a few necessities and also buying an iPhone 6s (oops!) to replace my dated and failing iPhone 5 handset (I will get some money back for trade in).
I have noticed from reading this diary through that it was this time last year that I kind off fell off the wagon with my car purchase, this year I do it again (although cheaper) with a new iPhone.
I was hoping to wipe the second card balance out asap so that I didn't need to own up on here but I feel it's now better out in the open so that I don't feel dirty and a fraud.
Both my CC's are interest free so I'm focusing on clearing the higher balance first.
From now on I will call the CC with £2600 on CCX and the CC with £1120 (excluding £200 joint debt) on CCY for identification purposes.
Pay day was yesterday so I sent a payment of £250 to CCX to bring it down to £2600. Unfortunately I may have missed the cut off date to stop the DD so on Monday I could find another £150 gets paid off it which will make the month interesting...
I also had my annual car service yesterday which set me back £280 (ouch!) so I don't know what other payments I'll be able to make until later in month.
Soo, where does this leave me?? the total CC debt now stands at £3720 (excluding £200 joint debt) which is a real kick in the unmentionables but not the end of the world.
Onwards and upwards hey!
Please be kind all...0 -
Hey it happens to us all SouthernGuy, don't beat yourself up over it!!0

Well, as predicted the £150 DD went out to CCX as well as the £250 I sent last week. This means it is going to be a tough month and I'm probably going to have to borrow a small amount from the joint account.0

Will we never learn. Not totally my debts up until next week after payment made, been naughty as well:o. Nevermind at lease your still here to keep me company on this long road:rotfl:

Well, it was a tough month that involved borrowing a bit of money from the joint account and whacking a small amount on CC

After paying off bits and bobs but putting stuff back on CCY my total now stands at £3551. With Christmas, Car MOT (needs 2 tyres) and Mrs SouthernGuy's birthday now looming I don't expect to get this down much further before the new year, I'll just aim not to increase it.
I hate it when progress slows but I generally find Aug - Jan my most expensive time of year.0 -
I've just applied for and been approved for a no fee balance transfer CC (interest free for 18 months) to transfer CCX to as the interest free period is due to expire. Once the balance has transferred I shall close the old card straight away.
I've also got £25 from Quidco for opening the new card

Happy New Year!
First of all I've got a bit of news.. I'm going to be a daddy! Exciting and scary times ahead for me..
Since my last post I've had an expensive spell what with it being Christmas and Mrs SouthernGuy's birthday. My CC total currently stands at £3442. Going in the right direction, just a little slow.
This morning I've just fixed our mortgage for the next 5 years as the deal we were on is ending next month and with our little one expected in June we need to know our exact outgoings. Got a good rate and save £35.00 a month so I am happy with that.
Once we have had confirmation of our mortgage details through the post I will then be changing our main joint bank account from Santander (123) to First Direct (the £150 switching bonus can pay our house insurance which is due end of Feb).
I hope everyone has had a good start to 2016 so far.

Congratulations on your exciting news. When's the baby due.
I am on a fixed rate mortgage over 5yrs, I just like know what I am paying with only one income. Looks like interest rates may rise soon.
First Direct looks a good deal I had one with them yrs ago so no switching for me.
Glad to see yr debt is still going downwards. Have a good weekend.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220
