Oh and avoid caffeine and pure orange, they stimulate your bladder so u pee and there is less liquid in your bowel to keep things moving!

Not that I've found. Coffee and orange juice keep me functioning, so to speak.

I was told this when I had prolapse surgery and they said constipation would put a strain on the internal stitches (I dont drink coffe anyway so I have no experience of that). A friend of mine told me that her first cigarette of the day gets her moving, but I wouldn't take up smoking to find out!

I know the lady in the bed next to me was given a suppository for the same issue. She waited 15 minutes as she was told, went to the toilet, and it fell out!! I think she did manage to go later that day.

I don't go particularly often anyway, every 3-4 days, but because they had taken some bowel away they wanted to make sure it was all up and running again!

Happy to be friends on Facebook, although I'm not very good at finding people! If you pm me your details I'll try, or I can send you mine?

Well OS ways are the best but need to eat more fruit and veg - actually any food might help! Any ideas of easy to get high fibre foods? Soup but that is all Im eating and hubby thinks I need more solid stuff?

Another vote for linseed here. After years of all bran, bran flakes etc I've found that a tablespoonful of linseed, hulled sunflower seeds, rolled oats and raisins mixed into home made yogurt makes a lovely (and successful:o) breakfast.:)
You might want to cut down on the linseed after a while...;)
That's where the oats, raisins and seeds come in and it's all pretty easy to eat and prepare when you're not feeling too well... ;)

Years ago after having my eldest DD (1967) the midwife in the maternity hospital in Croydon told me the best way to get things moving again was ordinary grapes.Apparently one of the reasons grapes are welcome in hospitals was because of their errr... results :):):)
I recently had an operations and with the pain killers afterwards it does tend to stop all working parts for a bit which can be jolly uncomfotable (especially when its a tummy op. and there are inside and outside stitches so you feel loathe to 'push' TMI I know :):) I was given Lactolose and told only to use it twice in one day otherwise it can be rather too useful.I must admit I went back to grapes as the lactolose is pretty disgusting to take .I'm please to say all is working in order again and normal service has been resumed so to speak :):):)
P.S. interesting discussions on here at times :):):)

Epsom salts. Very cheap from chemist- get finer ones for eating not bathing. Instant results.

I was made to have lactulose for a while. I now cant smell it without vomiting and cant swallow it. It is not as good as epsom salts.
