Another vote for linseed here. After years of all bran, bran flakes etc I've found that a tablespoonful of linseed, hulled sunflower seeds, rolled oats and raisins mixed into home made yogurt makes a lovely (and successful:o) breakfast.:)
You might want to cut down on the linseed after a while...;)

Not very os, but I had a major op on the 8th. They were giving me senna along with my cocktail of other drugs. They also tried to give me movicol but it was revolting so refused it.

Took me about a week to open my bowels - I was so happy I put it on Facebook!!

I am now home after 9 nights in hospital, not taken the senna and everything is working as it should be! Hope you find a solution soon.

Thank you so much for all the advice. I too am defying the medicine!!!

Lady Shopper - I had mine on the 7th and am getting rather hung up about the issue. My husband thinks it is hilarious but I took movicol last night and it came straight back up - not so funny for him then! We should be friends on FB - we can compare results!!!

I told the nurse at 2.35 am that I had been - luckily she had a good sense of humour. Hate the hassle and just want everything back to normal. Eating might help but I have absolutely no appetite and feel quite sickly. I will beat this though - things have got to change !!!!

Hope you get better soon xxx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Molly....so sorry to hear about your problem.....has been one of mine for years and I find that I need to be vigilent in my intake of prunes, apples, pears and lots of water to avoid uncomfortable days. Once you get back to moving around and eating normally the problem should resolve itself, so try not to worry.

Guinness! - always works for me.
    You know what they say...
"If the bottom has fallen out of your world, drink Guinness, and the world will fall out of your bottom instead" :D

If you get to the stage where you are so bunged up you can't face eating anything ask the pharmacist for glycerine suppositories, they work a treat and are very cheap.

Just remembered that a Chinese friend told me once that drinking plain warm water works, and I have tested it and it does!
I do hope things get moving for you soon.

Cross posted with you - well done!

Jacket potatoes with skin eaten are high fibre, esp with beans on. I find nuts also very good if you like them. Meat can be quite constipating so keep that to a minimum.
