I bought some skate for dinner last night. It was so disgusting that we both left it and then even the cats wouldn't eat it. My Bengal cat is the cat who will eat anything, strawberries and cream, muesli, (she loves raisins), cake, biscuits, jacket potatoes, cauliflower cheese, spaghetti bolognese but she turned her nose up at the skate as well as my other fussy princess.

Those painkillers sound pretty strong so its a good thing you have them with a toothache. I just found this article how to get rid of an abscess in a tooth with a home remedy. It might help.

If those kittens are being neglected I'd be doing everything I could to get them rehomed. They don't know they are doing wrong poor things.

I'd never see a cat in misery and not intervene. But that's just me.

Given that Melly has taken in 4 cats over the last year or so. 3 of them being ones that were in a bad way, it's very unfair to say that.

She's contacted the rspca several times over the kittens from upstairs.

I don't know if you've read the thread, or even the last few pages alone. But the 'owners' of the kittens have threatened Melly & her family & caused them both to become very unwell with their antics.

Subsequently, Melly is fragile at the moment, & understandably so. So please do not just assume she is ignoring the little kittens plight.

agree 100%, if you read back you will find that all Mellys cats have been taken in by her,she has nursed them back to health and just look at them now.
she has done everything she can(including worrying herself sick) about these kittens but she has not ignored their plight.

I have an abscess, just dome a saltwater rinse, really want to just jab it with a pin.

Back to docs tomorrow so I can get some antibiotics. OH has told me to call the dental hospital because they ate the only place that will be able to treat me as I am scared of needles and start Gipping when the dentist puts stuff in my mouth.

Not sure I can cope with another thing.

I empathise with you on this, Melly.

I spent 45 minutes at the dentist yesterday having a crown fitted but she couldn't get it to sit right.
She drilled some more of my tooth away (without anaesthetic :eek: ) but had to take another impression, fit a temporary cap and i have to go back next week.

Not sure about abcesses but oil of cloves is good for toothache, you can get it from a chemist. Tastes yuk though.

I too think annandale's post is very harsh.
Criticism that is totally unwarranted is the last thing Melly needs.

It's not a one off. My MIL is a spiteful old bat and uses the "time I was in a wooden box" thing all the time to bully my OH. But the MIL and her sister had a feud that went on for years that, as far as I can work out, was essentially about the neck end of nothing. It was a game of chicken really where the winner was the one who died first and then compelled the sister to come to their funeral as a mourner. That's how mad it was. the MIL "lost" in the end but, of course, the equally barmy sister had no satisfaction because she was dead! Do not enter their world of madness. They want you to feel sad, guilty and upset so don't let them.

It was my SIL and my MILS sister that were the problem my OH was able to make peace with his mum at the end.

I am ignoring the implication I should put my OH at further risk for the kittens when I have called RSPCA, Cats Protection and got nowhere. All of mine are strays. Tomcat my MIL took in we have taken the other 3 in. Pickles was 4 months old and pregnant, ty had no muscle on his back legs and LB was abscessed.

I think as I looked at their history they don't like threads of misery and believe people should pull themselves together.
