Melly I think the reason you had a meltdown was because they were coming to invade your personal space, your place of safety. You had nowhere to run.
Its over now though and things are okay, a lot calmer. You said you can't do it but you can. I think that was panic talking. You just need to take tiny steps, baby steps. Please don't think that because its a long time that you can't do it. Maybe only introduce one new food at a time and don't add anymore till you are used to that food, even if its only cornflakes or something.
Have you thought about taking a food supplement for your health like cod liver oil or a multivitamin tablet. All you would have to do would be to swallow a capsule. If you are feeling healthier you might see things in a new light.
I actually just looked it up and it is beneficial for a woman with anorexia to take multivitamins. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
That's what I would normally do tes
Have had this since I was 7.
The reason I have finally sought help is this time I can't.
Mletdown was an effect from sitting in a room with someone, no matter how nice, and telling them deeply personal things. Trying to explain feelings for which words are inadequate.
I can say eating makes me feel dirty, anxious, scared and out of control but it doesn't really explain it.
I can say all I could control was what went in and came out but it doesn't explain the way you feel.
I was taking a suppliment it's become food
Right still wiped today0 -
I've noticed - not a criticism by the way - that nothing anyone suggests to help is any good to you. I think that is because you don't believe you can do anything to help your own recovery. My daughter was exactly the same with her BED.
Just consider this though. There are two voices talking to you. One is your anorexic voice (which comes from your lower animal brain) telling you to starve yourself and that eating is destructive and disgusting. The other is your higher, intelligent brain telling you that this is madness and you must eat.
Try writing something down about the anorexic voice and what you think of it. Do you think it is telling you the truth? Do you trust what it is saying? What is it saying to you? Do you like what it is saying?
You don't have to write that on here. Keep it private to yourself but be brutally honest. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

Tesuhoho I understand you mean well . However as the mother of a daughter who had eating disorders for many years I will never challenge Melly . It is counter productive and too deep rooted for simple suggestions . Yes I will encourage her to take the help on offer to her and her husband but there are areas I would never go into . That's one for the professionals . No offence intended and I hope none taken .
Sleep well Melly x

No offence taken. That advice didn't come from me. It came from an expert on eating disorders who was reporting on work with anorexics. My daughter never saw a professional but her recovery started with the book by that same person on binge eating disorder. It has a different perspective and on reading it I realised what sense it made. She had BED and was resistant to all suggestions. However, although hostile to the book, it did seem to register with her and she took the advice, albeit halfheartedly and started to get better. Once she did that her recovery continued and she found her own way to heal herself.
I am not trying to meddle. All I was doing was passing on an exercise designed to introduce a bit of doubt about anorexic thinking. I am sorry if I caused distress to Melly or she felt pressured. I just feel that she needs a bit of self belief.
Anyway, I will continue to offer my support but will make no more suggestions in future. I really don't mean any harm and just feel like I want to help. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

Melly, I do appreciate the differences but that exercise was designed by experts for anorexics. One of the suggestions was to write a poem.
I am sorry though. I think I had better stop my clumsy efforts at trying to help. I wasn't content until I helped my daughter to find the answer and I suppose I had the same enthusiasm for trying to fix you.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
