I haven't posted for a bit, but things are going fairly well. We're sticking to our weekly spending budget, and haven't overspent - plus we're trying to put a little bit aside as we're going out for a meal at the end of the month....I think we've got around £15 towards that. DH won the 'bonus ball' through work....so we have another £35 coming our way!
My grocery shopping is the main area I'm not doing so well with. I'm definately spending less by going to Aldi...no question! However, I think I set my budget a bit too low...and I don't think we'll manage it. It'll probably mean I have to borrow a little from another 'pot' but I'm not going to let it get me down, my budgeting is a work in progress!
The one spanner in the works is my final bill from my previous energy company (we've just switched!) which has come in at £200!! This has wiped out my little bit of savings...plus I've had to temporarily use some money from my car budget....but at least it won't go on a credit card!!! I've not put anything on a card this month...and hope we can get through without having to!
DH's car insurance is due at the end of the month...but we'll have enough saved to pay it outright!
We have a fairly chilled weekend ahead...a bottle of wine in the fridge & no particular plans...so that's nice. It would be lovely to go out somewhere if the weather's nice...but I think it's forecasted for showers, so we'll have to see!
Right I am going to get up & showered, get on with this housework so that I can then relax tomorrow!2nd January 2015: Total £4970.70 Total now: £4878.88 :eek:Mum & Dad £100/£1795.00[STRIKE]Next £135.70/£135.70[/STRIKE]Balance now £0 :j

Well today looks to be another fairly dull and miserable day weather wise:(. I tried to get the washing dried yesterday - but after having to get it in twice due to the showers, I gave in & used the tumble drier. However, it's mostly done....just the dreaded ironing to contend with today:eek:
Spent some of our 'spending' money on popcorn, pop and sweets for the kids last night, which we all enjoyed. Still have around £10 left between me & DH to last until Tuesday.
Figured I need to write a to do list for today, otherwise it's a day I could easily waste away on my ipad;). So here goes:
Shower, wash hair
Swish & swipe bathroom
Ironing
Sew buttons back onto quilt cover (around 3 fell off at the same time!)
Change bedclothes
Dust & vac upstairs
Cook lunch
Visit my parents
Nag DS1 about homework:D
Get ready for work/school tomorrow
Decluttering and organise one area of wardrobe
Stay off internet until all of the above is done!
Collapse into bed:rotfl:

Hi Lily,
Sounds like it's going really well, and well done for staying away from the credit card.
I think budgets really are a 'work in progress' for a while (I know ours are - only really on month 2 and it seems to keep throwing surprises at us) but overall it really makes you think about every spending choice!
Hope you get through that very challenging 'to do' list - I'm off to eat a huge roastx
Debt remaining:
Mortgage - £117,759 (£134,600, Nov 2013)
Work overpayment and home improvement loan paid back (£19200)

Collapse into bed will be doing this shortly - intend to read for a bit first:D
Am pleased!!! Writing it down certainly pushed me to get on with those jobs I was avoiding (mainly the sewing bit!)
DD & DS2 now bathed, hair washed & in bed. DS1 will be up later....I might sneak in a quick bath before it's his turn & treat myself to a face pack! DS2 starts his SATS tomorrow, so I'm pleased he's gone to bed at a reasonable time! He's a bright lad....but the schools put so much pressure on them about the SATS that he's a little nervous! Keep telling him that it's important to try his best, but that these tests have no impact on his future!!!

OK - budgeting going pretty much to plan! But I am really struggling with feeling pretty rubbish physically!! I'm absolutely shattered all the time, have funny heads/headaches quite often & really want to sort myself out!!!! So my plans are:
Bed by 10.00pm....read for half an hour, lights out at 10.30
Drink enough water each day (need to find out how much this is;))
Eat my 5 a day
Restart multivitamins & take consistently
Decrease 'screen' time:eek:
Increase activity
Has anyone got any other ideas? Have had my bloods checked a few months ago...nothing significant (as far as I know...no call back from GP...maybe I should contact the surgery to confirm??)
I have a stressful job, but am part-time....which helps!!! The hours I work just don't account for how tired I am! I don't drink alcohol or smoke......any ideas what else I can try??2nd January 2015: Total £4970.70 Total now: £4878.88 :eek:Mum & Dad £100/£1795.00[STRIKE]Next £135.70/£135.70[/STRIKE]Balance now £0 :j

Just a thought, I used to suffer with really chronic headaches a few years ago, it turned out that my Vit B levels were very low. I had to have injections to boost it and now just top it up with vit b supplements.0 -

Thanks purplemumof2....luckily my headaches seem to have eased off:j - don't know whether they were part of a virus or something? I have also started exercising....and wonder whether that has helped!
Debt wise things rain much the same....slowly reducing but a couple of hiccups....new exhaust & under-budgeting for grocery shopping!
However, payday yesterday & pots have been appropriately filled. Have budgeted a bit extra for clothes this month as DD has grown & needs some dresses/jeans etc. I could do with some clothes for when I'm not at work....as that part of my wardrobe is pretty desperate....but that'll have to wait:(
Holiday saving money is going okay - but need to try & add some extra to this when I can!
Hope everyone else is achieving a bit more than I am!2nd January 2015: Total £4970.70 Total now: £4878.88 :eek:Mum & Dad £100/£1795.00[STRIKE]Next £135.70/£135.70[/STRIKE]Balance now £0 :j
