Hi - all I need to get really is some mince (which I thought I'd ordered with my grocery delivery....but must have forgotten) and some cheese. I'll post tomorrow what I have in my cupboards.....my problem is having a couple of fussy eaters in the house!! If it was just me & DH we'd manage just fine...lol.2nd January 2015: Total £4970.70 Total now: £4878.88 :eek:Mum & Dad £100/£1795.00[STRIKE]Next £135.70/£135.70[/STRIKE]Balance now £0 :j

Depending what it is you're cooking, i'd just leave out the mince and cope without cheese tbh, just to feel great about getting to payday without having to borrow from other pots.Credit card respend 2551.58 (15/02/17)0

I was cooking a spaghetti bolognese & will do macaroni cheese for DS2....kind of need the mince & the cheese really. As I said, if it wasn't for the children, me & DH would just have jacket potatoes/something on toast.....but 3 growing kids (one of whom is a very hungry teen) need something more substantial. I have everything else I need for Friday's meal (homemade chicken pie & veg)
The only other things I have are a tin of tuna, some frozen cod, tins of beans, chopped tomatoes, tomato pur!e, pasta and general store cupboard stuff. I do a weekly meal plan & only buy meat etc that we need for that week...so don't have a freezer full of stuff I could use:( I really do want to look at getting a freezer for the garage....so that I can start to buy some extra bits to help when things are a bit tight!
As a family we do get through a lot of cheese & milk:eek:
I've checked my bank balance this morning & have £42 left. Dentist charges are around £18.50 I think (depending on what needs doing....DH has pain in one of his molars) and he said he needs to put petrol in....but will put £20 in rather than his usual £40. So I hopefully could get away with borrowing around £5-10 to see me through until the weekend. Believe me, compared to recent months where I've been over £100 overdrawn, I'm quietly quite pleased with myself:D2nd January 2015: Total £4970.70 Total now: £4878.88 :eek:Mum & Dad £100/£1795.00[STRIKE]Next £135.70/£135.70[/STRIKE]Balance now £0 :j

You see, personally I'd just leave the mince out of the bolognese and just do a pasta sauce with tomatoes and veg and have some extra pasta to fill up. Congrats on being so much more in control though!Credit card respend 2551.58 (15/02/17)0

Funnily enough I ended up doing that for DS2....which saved me having to buy cheese! However, I did get mince £2.50, milk £1.00 & a tin of soup for poor DH who had his tooth removed. It had an abscess & was loose too! Needless to say...budget was blown as it cost £50.50!!!! I've borrowed from my car account....I'll be able to make it up before DH's car insurance is due at the end of May.;). At least it didn't go on a credit card:j
Tomorrow I need to pay a couple of cheques into the bank, but will otherwise have a quiet day at home - trying to get the children to do their homework before Monday arrives!!
Have had a lovely day...spent with a friend and her children. The kids are of similar ages to mine, and we were pregnant at the same time....so they've been friends since they were babies!! They are now growing up too quickly though.:eek:2nd January 2015: Total £4970.70 Total now: £4878.88 :eek:Mum & Dad £100/£1795.00[STRIKE]Next £135.70/£135.70[/STRIKE]Balance now £0 :j
