To the lady with problems with the cups sizes, again, change brands because you are not suiting the one you are trying. It might mean you have to step up a brand (sorry) to find the one that is right for you, but it is all about finding the right brand that suits your body shape.

Yup, I've got a couple of Royces (my lacy favourites), a couple of Doreens (NOT my favourites but they do the job and one of them is pastel pink, see below), and assorted others from Debenhams.

And that's my next moan, I could get any number of underwired bras in my pink, but non-wired? Forget it! We're only allowed pastel pink. Life is not fair!

Hi Sue. Yup, I am totally with you there. Miss Lepel used to do a fab range (you might still find some in stock around) in different colours and styles but they did not last long - people did not want to pay the momey for a non-wired bra.

But you know what I tell my customers to do when they ask for a specific colour they can't get..... buy a white one and dye it. You can have whatever colour you want then. ;)

I dont know of any NCT branches in my area?

    Hi Keeley Kat,

I can personally recommend the fitting service and selection from 2ndskinlingerie at Bromsgrove (about 200 yards from the exit of the M42 J1 and 2 miles away from junction 4 of he M5).

I won the November spa and bra prize run by 2ndskin, I have to say the difference in my bra size reflects the comments within this thread. Karen is so friendly and I can't describe how much confidence I have gained through the fitting. Loads of remarks about looks like I have lost weight and it is all through being fitted properly (Yes I thought I had been fit at M and S previously, yet I still had 4:rotfl: ).
  • Damn I wish I had read this thread sooner.I have been out shopping today and my bra 40D was very uncomfortable, boobs falling out of bottom as wires riding up, also falling out of sides but baggy at top and band cutting in.
Got home, had enough and had my friend measure me using formula my ribcage measurement was 42inches so I added 4 to get 46, then measured my boobs and got 46 which according to formula would make me a 46A, never in a million years, I am big boobed lady, went to Asda this evening as I was desperate - I really wanted a Katie Price bra but didnt do in my formula size, ended up buying a 42C. have tried it on quickly and it seems to fit but im not sure how comfy after a long day in work.
I have a 40D minimiser from simply be it keeps my boobies firm but is uncomfortable and I am very aware of it, I just dont know what to do, I have a nice new dress and I want my boobs to look nice in it, do I order a 46B and see if it feels OK ?
I have just read on another site that if your band measurement is more than 38 you dont add the 4 on so then I would be a 42D, im so confused.I hate being a woman, but I do love the design of those katie price bras.

Shal, if the bra band is rising up then it is too big for you. Are you sure you are not measuring up your back at all? Or is the 40C an old (and stretched) bra? I too preferred to measure by using the tape as a 'rough' guide and then by fitting. It sounds like you need fitting rather than going by measurement alone. You are not on your own and this is why so many people make this mistake - we wear what we think we should be because the list says this is our size but it is all wrong.

If you are having trouble with finding the right bra for you I really cannot stress how important it is for you to find half an hour to be fitted. But not by M&S or La Senza!! Are you near a Bravissimo, Figleaves or JL. Please do not feel embarrassed about going, you need to find out what your size is and what brand suits you best. The other option if you have a catalogue account is to order lots of bras in different sizes to try on.

The thing I need to stress is that if you have never been fitted properly (you do not have to buy, tell them DH is treating you for birthday and ask them for the details of the bra!) you'll never know what it feels like when it is properly fitted and even if you find one that you think is 'right' it still might not be.

    HTH.

I have been personally taught to add 2 inch to an even number and 3 to a odd to determine the band. When it comes to the cup size we do not measure but judge checking that the breast is fully in the cup. We always loosen the bra strap and adjust it when its on. The bra is to be put on the last hook - this is when the bra gives you have the option to tighten it. Once that is done we then ask the customer if she feels comfortable and to address any issues she may have.

I cannot stress enough that if it does not feel right then it probably isnt, do not feel pressured into buying bras that you find uncomfortable.
  • La senza staff go through a very intensive bra fitting training course and it is important to remember that bra sizes will vary depending on the brand of product you buy (eg in one shop your a different size to another). What i will say is that the la senza boutiques are generally much better than the larger stores when it comes to personal service. Experienced bra fitters always use more than just the tape measure to bra fit.

I normally wear 34a:o but the cup is a bit too big and a 34aa the cup is too small, I'm not too sure how it works so has anyone got any suggestions as to what size to try please. Thanks in advance to you lovely lovely people:D
