Or go and get measured - don't buy anything - and look on Ebay and in the bravissimo sale onlineOnce you know the size it's a lot easier to find them cheaper elsewhere

blue_monkey: i bet you dont work in marks and spencers!!
Im a bra fitter in debenhams, i give the young people a choice of wired or non, unless theyre very eary teen then its defo non wired because then looking cool doesnt matter so much at that age! After that they moan to their mothers who give in.
The sadest thing i saw was last week a girl of about 12/13 was bought an ultimo bra by her mother. (for those not in the no its a range of bras that have ALOT of gel in) If anything is going to do damage that bra will!
Bra fitting is the best skill ive ever been taught, and i think more should be done for bra fitting in schools. It should be apart of a girls sex education to be taught how to fit a bra and what to look for. Women should not be able to leave a shop without trying a bra on, it should be compulsory!!0 -

only if you got bought the exact same one in the same colour! It varies so much, ive known bras of different colours to come up different. You have to treat each bra as a total different being!0 -
Blue_monkey, thank you so much for all your help.
My DD is 12 and measured out today in M&S at a 32b.
The woman in there was really school marm-ish and told her off for wearing an underwired, this started the whole debate!
The thing is DD said everyone at school wears underwired and we couldnt find any nice un-wired.
ooh, 12, no I would prefer a child of 12 not to be in an underwired bra, that is far too young imho.
Anyway, get out of M&S as they are rubbish (LOL) and see if you can find a local stockist, or an online stockist of Lepel. They do gorgeous bras that are non-wired. Debenhams have some: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category_10001_10001_18837_-1 ALL of the bras that lepel make are made in a wired and non wored version, so if she likes the Una for example then look for the non-wired version. There might even be some stockists of an older range called 'Miss Lepel' that made teenage bras.

Have you seen this from Royce? http://www.royce-lingerie.co.uk/product_detail.php?style=8001&type=Sugar%20n%20Spice Kind of cute
I do know what young girls are like but maybe you can come to come comprimise like she wears a good non-wired bra for school and get her one for the weekend rather than wired all day. I went from non-wired to wired after being pregnant and breastfeeding for 4 years and I had bruised ribs for 2 weeks. Your DD does not want this on her growing body, I am sorry to sound like a nag but just being honest.
Remember the first bras we had when we were girls, LOL!! None of this fancy padded and silky stuff they have these days!! more parachute material with some elastic. And I am only 37. LOL!! :rotfl:0 -
Mmmm yes to a degree... although I find all the panache and freya bra's I've tried on to be consistent in their sizes no matter what model and colour
Then again I know what shapes won't work for me and anything that looks VAGUELY pointy get's discarded and I don't even consider trying them on

BTW I DREAD the day when we have kids from a bra perspective... 32GG/H is bad enough... nursing size bra's just fill me with dread!
when my milk came in i went up to a j cup, they were bigger than my head
took dd (13) to be fitted and the lady fitting her also said no wires for the reasons already mentioned, she said wires were ok maybe once a week to go out in with friends but not ok for everyday use, i had tried telling dd but she wouldnt listen to me but she did listen to the very nice lady in the bra shop.'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -

Yup I remember them and I was in a 34FF till not that long ago and I am only 28!!!!
It was depressing to have to wear granny bra's at 18!
(btw the right bra for the right occassion is SO true... I've looked for a picture of my bra but I can't find it... Let's just say I wore the WRONG one horseriding a few weeks ago... it actually rubbed my boob raw and I now have a scar thereHoping it'll fade a bit but my boobs scar very easily (ie don't scratch a mosquito bite! It WILL scar on me!)...
And all because I forgot to change bra's before dashing out the door! (slaps forehead)DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Absolutely Vix - I always say the same, to get measured but to take the number from inside the bra and see if you can get the same bra. This is what I explained further back, that you can have 5 bras and only one will fit.
M&S, heavens don't get me started on them. I've have so many ladies tell me 'M&S fitted me in......' and they are a band size smaller and 3 sizes bigger. Some people are adamant thought that M&S are the best and you just have to let it go, but then they complain that the branded stuff 'does not fit'.
I agree with you totally that girls need education but I think many people are embarrassed and think they have to strip to their pants to get fitted for a bra - this is so not the case, you can be discreet about it (or most of us can, I am sure that some have been scared off for life by some fitters, LOL!!). And does it become an obsession, staring at womens boobs where ever you go once you do this for a living. You can sit there and think 'no, no, no, no, for gods's sake NO', I'll say to my husband 'for gods sake, she has the wrong bra on' he doesn't look as far as I know but I cannot help it. LOL.Please tell me you do the same thing else I'd be slightly worried about my behaviour.

Ouch yes, I can feel it now!! I have to confess that my Panache Tango II seem to stand up to me running in them when I take the kids to the gym, I put my sports bra on and it made no difference.
The thing is, the right bra makes all the difference, it takes the weight off and I do not really get any aches from my boobs at all (apart from 'that' time of the month but we all get those!!) but if you have the right sized bra in the back it pulls you up and takes the weight off and this is so important. I have some of the single lace Freya bras and I feel dreadful when I have worn them as the support is not right. And don't you feel totally gutted when a gorgeous bra comes out and it does not fit you at all!! Like you are missing out on something as you REALLY wanted it and there is no way you can get it to fit. :mad:0 -
Anyhow, I am off to have a bath and go bed. I'm taking DD to see High School Musical tomorrow - both our first times at the theatre. I am so excited.
She got her first wobbly tooth today too. Such a milestone!! I bought this little fairy tooth casket from Poundland a few months back, did not think I'd need it quite so soon though. I felt so excited for her. She must have told me 100 times 'I've got my first wobbly tooth'. Gosh I've had another thought, in another 6 years it'll be I need my first bra. Eek!!!!!! Where did the time go?????????????0
