Yes but I think that the banking arm is quite separate from the retail arm of the Co-op. The Co-op are a kind of federation of retail businesses. I'm not sure that asset stripping, for any reason to do with the current state of the banking business, would be on the cards.Glen_Clark wrote: »Well I can see Aldi/Lidl taking over a few Co op sites and giving the big 4 more competition. The Co op is still rich with property assets, Asset stripping hedge funds have already taken 70% of the bank and seem to be talking its value down. Is this so they can buy the rest cheaper?0 -

Then you don't appear to be following the whole story. Myners and Sutherland walked. The issues are deep rooted.0 -
I started shopping in aldi too but only because it's smaller so I can get milk and get out quick but I don't get the hype. The fruit and veg tastes awful, all plastic wrapped and bland.
I prefer the fruit and veg from Aldi over Tesco, IMO its both fresher and better tasting. I shop at Lidl/Tesco/Lidl/Asda and find majority of items are cheaper at Lidl/Aldi but then you do get deals at Tesco and Asda too, all depends what you're after."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." Quite possibly, although a shiny new Waitrose popped ap a year ago so all of us more discriminating and sensitive types have decamped to there. Maybe what we are seeing is the Aldi/Lidl crowd upgrading and filling the vacuumthat says more about where you live that it does about Tesco;)

Dunno about getting out of my local Aldi quickly....
There is usually a very long queue at the checkouts, they don't seem to have enough tills - I often hear people complaining when waiting at the checkouts and a few that have left their shopping and walked out.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -
Depends when you go. My local is dead most evenings except Friday.Dunno about getting out of my local Aldi quickly....

If you have a My Waitrose card you can get 4 pints of milk for £1;)
I am in a bit of quandary about Tesco, in that I have been a shareholder for nearly 20 years, but now never shop with them -
I prefer Lidl and Waitrose:o
So my dilemma is whether or not to offload the shares, bearing in mind they would have to fall a very long way to get down to what I paid for them.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
A year almost to the dayI think it was 2012 that Woodford sold TSCO and he increased his stake in MRW this time last year.
