You shouldn't have to go near London. There's the A43 which cuts across between the M1 at Northampton down to the M40 near Oxford. Then you go down the M40 to High Wycombe and take the A404 down to the M4 near Maidenhead. From there you're virtually at Legoland.

We live near J13 of the M1 and it often takes us around an hour and 15 mins to get to legoland from here, even quicker occasionally (sunday mornings usually!) so even if you do the M1 / m25 route it's not too bad x

ETA I used to get very travel sick too but I find an antihistimine works really well (I have to take one daily for allergies) as does a quick snack of something quite bland like cream crackers or ready salted crisps, hth

    I've been Money Tipped!
I always used to do Midlands-Legoland using the M40 and you don't need to do the M25 at all as the Maidenhead jct off the M40 takes you all the way to the brown Legoland tourist signs.

It really is simple to drive. Get the sat nav working, have a paper copy of the directions too, get the kids loaded up with books/practiced in travel games/story CDs from the library/a stash of snacks and you will be absolutely fine. Plus just before you leave the M40, there is a massive Asda next to the motorway should you need a cheap petrol/toilet/food stop

Legoland is really close to Windsor - you could do Windsor castle too! If you are scared to drive maybe you could find a cheap coach trip?

I used to get sick on buses before I learned to drive - somehow now it doesn't affect me.

You could try travel wrist bands if you bus it ( supposed to work on the acupuncture principle). I am a scientist and assumed they were sheer balony, but weirdly they work on me. Hehehe... I still think they shouldn't!

Yeah, but when did the OP last try a bus long distance if it's 30 years since they tried a train? Might be worth trying the travel bands or nausea pills on a short trip as an experiment.

And as I said, I used to literally vomit on buses and in cars until I learned to drive myself. (I reckon worrying about the competence of the driver nowadays makes me forget to feel queasy!)

Where in Lincs are you? I am in Spalding and driving my 6 year old (girl) to Legoland on Tues 17th June?? You're more than welcome to catch a lift with us and either stay together or do your own thing and meet up for a lift home at the end of the day?

This is exactly what I'm going to do, our local train goes to cleethorpes on a sat and I'm going to give it a whirl, and go for 3 miles on a bus lol ,I can always get of and walk home!
