I signed up with lyca for their unlimited 4g and it's turns out not all 4g enabled phones work on their network. I have the Samsung galaxy s4 and can't get 4g their staff failed to inform me of this when I signed up and I asked if it will work on my s4 bunch of liars.

    Well,
    - O2 sell S4 on 4g: https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/phones/samsung/galaxy-s4-black-mist/?activeTabNum=1
Get O2 4G on this phone

    - Lyca use O2 network.

So, I guess it depends ...

    on S4 I guess.

AFAIK O2 use 800MHz frequency for 4g. If your s4 isn't faulty then, possibly, there are variations of S4 supporting different frequencies.

In UK LTE 800, LTE 1800, LTE 2600 are used.
Gsmarana vaguely say for s4: LTE (market dependent)

CPW sell sim-free S4 and say just '4g' in specifications. This implies that it works on all UK 4g networks.

Well my phone was originally from Vodafone and they use 800mhz so not sure why it won't work. When I rang lyca they said s4 is not supported on their network so thinking they may use another frequency But they really should state what phones work cause isn't that like false advertising to say it works on 4g enable phones when it's clearly not 100% true

babychan, you need to update the software on your phone to the latest version.

You can do this via Samsung KIES.

    Then that is weird.

If you know what you're doing then you can install an alternative ROM and this will solve the issue.

Would that involve rooting it cause I tried to the other day as done it before and couldn't do it. I think it has something to do with knox and I am on a mac don't think there is anything out for it yet.
