Either way, you might have an issue getting contactless as most banks add the function to offline debit cards only.

They don't issue unembossed cards anymore. But it is the online card if thats what you mean.

Yip. So it arrived this morning. Again not contactless after being assured it would be. Had my card and pin cancelled and been without one for over a week as I was advised this is how they were issued.

    Hi

I sent two messages via online banking. One asking for a contact less debit card and one asking for a contact less credit card.

The reply with regards to the debit card was yes, new contact less card has been ordered.

The reply with regard to the credit card was. NO we don't offer them in your area.

I have a contact less credit card from Santander, didn't specifically ask for one, that's just what I was sent.
Strangely, my debit card isn't contact less, the reverse of what I had with my previous bank.

Given that many bank staff aren't aware of the difference between online/offline cards, expecting them to understand contactless may be a tall order without extensive training.

I've spoken to 3 people this month, they all knew (or claimed to know) what I was requesting.

I even got the TIP, You have to use it in the ATM first before it will allow you to do a contactless payment.

Getting one to materialise seems to be the sticking point.

To active the contactless on the card you first have to make a payment in a chip and pin terminal, which it tells you to do on the leaflet that comes with a contactless card.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

Actually with the Santander cards it specifically says that an ATM transaction needs to be conducted before contactless will work on its debit cards. (Different from everyone else).

Just going to ring their complaints line, maybe someone there knows how to do their job.

UPDATE: Contactless cards are only available on their offline card, so your never going to get one if you don't have a card with silver numbers on it.

They offered £10 for my trouble. I told them to keep it.

£100 to switch to Halifax and a contactless card. Bye Bye.
