It should also be noted that a huge amount of benefit and housing benefit overpayments/under payments are down to mistakes made by the relevant departments.

Many housing benefit departments have been hived off to a certain private firm, who I had better not name, but who are a legend in their own lunchtime, across many counties and boroughs, for being so incredibly inept they tend to leave officials and an unsuspecting public with their jaws a-dropping.

However, it suits the council and government spin merchants to mix up those figures with actual fraud by the claimant.

    Lin ;)

Morglin is right... Too many corners cut to save money means too many mistakes are made.

She's also very right about outsourcing

So you don't get dental care and other medical insurances?

Koss - what on earth makes you think investigators get dental care and medical insurance - I know of no civil servants who get this and investigators are paid the same rate as someone who works in the jobcentre. No perks/no bonuses/ no overtime for getting up and starting work in the middle of the night.

I just generally come across as an !!!!!!!, nothing personal.

You have reading comprehension problems, or fail to take all my posts on the subject in context, I'm talking about in actual costs to the benefits system. Provide evidence don't pull percentages out of your backside. You make the allegation the onus is on you to provide the proof the burden of proof is on you Mr. I study social anthropology with crime and English contract law.

So with 20+ years, exp you are on 35k to 40k after taxes not including perks and bonuses.

No, this is not correct. You make the allegation, presumably anonymously, the DWP/council/whichever agency is responsible for the administration investigate your claim, and the onus of proof, that they are not claiming fraudulently is on the claimant.

But I'm talking about those who have boyfriends (as my response was about someone who did have not even a boyfriend but a partner), when they are reporting for allegedly have more of a relationship than this. Surely any person whose partner was accused of benefit fraud would want to help them financially during that time. If not, they should be ditched anyway!

What if the partner/boyfriend was on benefits/disabled/not working for whatever reason, earning a very low income (e.g. self employed, full timwe but with a profit of £40 a week on average)? Just because someone is your partner/boyfriend/girlfriend, it doesn't follow they would be in a position to help you out financially if your benefits got stopped.

In this instance, they usually do bother to move in together, because there is little financial gain in not doing so....

My next door neighbour's father had a disabled parking badge. He died, neighbour simply used it with own vehicle until it expired and never got caught.
Many and varied are the frauds and the depths to which people will sink to make or save a few quid.
Karma, marriage broke up because spouse was unfaithful.
    What goes round, comes round.

    Dear Sir,

Can you provide evidence of your assertion, I don't doubt you I am genuinely curious now.

Why do you assume that everyone is male? If I could be bothered to find evidence of the salary rate for EO grade Civil Servants in the DWP I would - perhaps you could instead
  • Please can everyone delete the extra opening quote tag.

You should have one tag at the beginning, that is of the format QUOTE=persons user ID;postnumber, all inside square brackets. If you have two sets of square brackets, delete the one that doesn't include the name of the person you wish to quote.

Then a closing tag at the end which is /QUOTE inside square brackets.
  • The quotes and the IDs don't match. If you remove the additional QUOTE tag, then the next person that quotes you, won't pass it on.
