Wait for the spammers to message you.

There is a recent one that says they will fit you a free charging unit. Avoid them like the plague.

Any company that have to contact you is not one you want to do business with.

Thanks, but my question relates to charging networks - I already have a charger installed at home so they really would be wasting their time.

    So, my questions are:

    - what charging networks are worth subscribing to?
    - does anyone have a good link that explains charging connectors and compatibility (all the websites I've seen thus far give no real information).

Drive into the booth and the battery is removed from below and a charged one put in its place.

This is a great idea and will allow electric cars to come of age. Manufacturers ought now to be agreeing on a common battery fit - I hope they are.

I prefer a diesel, but hey ho. :) I also run on vegetable oil which brings the cost down significantly.

I used to do until I found out that the soot from diesels is second only to CO2 in contributing to warming.

There were articles in the papers recently about electric cars having truly massive depreciation, e.g. 50% in a year and worthless after 5. (Which makes buying one used the best proposition). Early depreciation probably caused by some people regretting and selling quite soon.

In the longer term the British government could not survive without taxing personal mobility. If even 30% of us moved to electric all subsidies would be off and road pricing per mile taxation will be inevitable.

For now, electric is a lovely option for the rich and some city dwellers. After that Lottery win I'd buy the new electric 'VW Up!'

What about the pollution from making those batteries? Last figures i read said something like the equivalent of doing 600,000 miles at 45mpg.

Electric cars are not going to save the planet.

What does your powerstation run on? Coal?

Well I live less than 5 miles away from Hinkley Point nuclear power station, so my power station runs on very low carbon technology (OK, I do understand the national grid!)

    Mine will...

You'll be referring to my 4kWp solar PV array, and if I need to import any then my electricity supply is 75% nuclear (I'm with EDF).

No mention of the pollution and the mega mileage it will take to balance out the damage to the enviroment from making the batteries?
