It depends on what emoticons you use.

    ;)

A smiley face :) will only use 2 characters; where as a :rotfl: uses 7 characters.

    A  uses 5 characters.

    :)

    I know - totally illogical!:p

When DH died 3 years ago I was signed off sick, I had to apply for ESA so I could claim statutory sick pay because I'm self employed. I got my NI paid but due to 3 mths too little NI paid I wasn't entitled to SS but still had to go through an awful medical after 13 weeks to be told that I was medically fit to work eventhough I was a blubbering, quivering wreck through out. I also claimed housing benefit and still do although it's now down to just over £2 per week because I'm now in social housing.
I must admit I felt awful the first time I went in to fill in both sets of forms. I felt so out of place and very guilty/embarrassed to be there.
I think the worst though had to be when my landlord went bankrupt and we were evicted due to this. The aul battle axe of a housing officer I was assigned couldn't have been worse, she looked at me as if I was something nasty she'd stood on. I remember going in on our last day in the house to see where they'd got us for temp accommodation only to find out Belfast don't have any for 'normal' families, like she couldn't have told me that before! We were offered a hostel in Coleraine, quite a distance from Belfast and really not suitable considering my MH at the time. Thankfully there was a bed for DS in my mums, I just spent months sleeping on the sofa.

I think the hardest part was going into the building not knowing what to expect, having people both in and outside staring at you as you walked in and asked what to do. When I went to see what help I could get after DH died my aunt came with me, she asked for a private room and my brother waited out in the waiting area. He was able to tell me after exactly what had been said in the room because the girl had gone to ask someone else about something and had stood talking about me with those at the counter! Talk about humiliating! He put a complaint in.

I'm signed off sick at the moment but haven't claimed anything because of my experience before. I hope to get working again once the concentration levels improve.

I think your situation isn't typical SD. Widowed at such a young age :( I am all for the benefits system helping those that truly need it. I think (abuse aside) it's a great thing about our country that we have a system that helps those in need.

I don't think people in your situation should be put off claiming what you're entitled to. I'm fortunate enough to have not been in that situation. Sounds like a horrible situation :(

As for me 'repeating myself', what, me?? Never!!:D

Extract from DSM-5 diagnostic criteria: autism spectrum disorder:

    B. Restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities, as manifested by at least two of the following, currently or by history (examples are illustrative, not exhaustive; see text):
    1. Stereotyped or repetitive motor movements, use of objects, or speech (e.g., simple motor stereotypies, lining up toys or flipping objects, echolalia, idiosyncratic phrases).
    2. Insistence on sameness, inflexible adherence to routines, or ritualized patterns or verbal nonverbal behavior (e.g., extreme distress at small changes, difficulties with transitions, rigid thinking patterns, greeting rituals, need to take same route or eat food every day).
    3. Highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus (e.g, strong attachment to or preoccupation with unusual objects, excessively circumscribed or perseverative interest).
    4. Hyper- or hyporeactivity to sensory input or unusual interests in sensory aspects of the environment (e.g., apparent indifference to pain/temperature, adverse response to specific sounds or textures, excessive smelling or touching of objects, visual fascination with lights or movement).
    Specify current severity:
Severity is based on social communication impairments and restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior (see Table 2).

Thanks for posting your CV :p:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Someone was asking earlier about what the triggers are in the 4 for £3 toiletries glitch.

    These 2 are confirmed today:

    Nivea for Women Invisible Black & White 48h bc 3647 £1.10 / 90p
    Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner (75ml) £1.10 / 90p

Best return for apg is to get 3 x Nivea Pearl & Beauty Anti-Perspirant Deo Spr...£6.60 / £2.70 bc 6690

The Nivea Pearl is showing as being in the 4 for £3 whereas the two triggers aren't. So getting all 4 of any combo showing as being in the 4 for £3 ztlike 4 x Nivea Pearls) will pick up the offer & it won't "glitch".

You can get other things that will compare favourably, e.g.
1 x Colgate Total Advanced Clean Toothpaste Tube 25ml £1.10 £0.90 but as said best return is Nivea pearl.
