Parking Fines, ASDA

The problem is it's not the OP dealing with the "fines" it's the hire company, who will most likely pay the fine & reclaim the money - which is where you run into problems. The whole "can't issue fines" argument is a secondary issue here which is reliant on the hire company sides with you & is willing to run the risk of losing any such challenge. There in lies your difficulty, that one little bit at the end "risk of losing" no matter how minute that risk is will be enough to put off any legitimate business as it goes against the key principle of business. (To make money)

The £50 admin fee would probably have been in the T&C's so it could be argued that you knew about it or at the very least had been reasonably informed of it's potential.

You really need to get to some form of proper legal advice on this one, the involvement of the hire company in all of this is the massive sticking point here. That's where regular layman advice becomes somewhat questionable, you need proper advice as to the route to take - but I'd steele myself for losing a ton of money.

This, unfortunately. If it was your own car I would say file the "parking invoices" in the paper shredder however the hire company will probably pay the fines and then try and claim the money off you.

    That's old and wrong advice.

Yeah, yeah.. I lack sympathy for myself, buddy. I just expected to get a normal ticket.

What normal ticket? I know exactly what these signs say, the same as my Asda does. There is no normal ticket, what are you on about?

The fact all Asda'a have more or less exactly the same signs with no "normal" ticket is what really makes me loose sympathy. Your normal ticket idea just shows your obvilous attitude and the fact you either live in a fairy tail world or make things up.

PS - it's most likely Smart Parking (formerly Town & City Parking) rather than Parking Eye in an ASDA car park.

Where in the UK was this? (Eng/Wales or Scot/NI?)

OK, you've been given advise to contact the hire company and quote BVRLA on both your threads but instead you've chosen to argue.

Given your attitude I guess you work for one of the unscrupulous Private Parking Companies and have come to troll seeing as the excellent advice provided on MSE is eating into your profits.

I'm pretty sure the OP means by 'a normal ticket' is that they expected to see an actual paper parking ticket attached to their car when they returned to it at the end of the day, like those a traffic warden issues on public streets.

Presumably if they'd received one of those on the first day, they wouldn't have continued to park there for nine further days.

The advice about appealing then etc is fine if it was his car.

It's not. The car hire company can choose to do what they want. Even if they did decided to put in the effort to defend the fines, that charge will be passed onto the OP.

They won't though. It's going to cost them nothing, and potentially net them £500 in admin fees.

presumably the hire company have a card on file when you hired the vehicle , i would have a read of your agreement as they may just pay the fines using your card details.

    They aren't actually fines though.

What they should be doing is replying to the people issuing the invoices naming the driver. Not paying them.

The OP agreed to their terms and drove the car. He is bound to that contract.
