I am sorry - you are of course welcome to your weekend off.
  • Hang on a minute, at the risk of being contrary, isn't having someone else enter the competition for you a good idea?

If we're talking about saving money - this is a moneysaving forum after all - then chances are any company that enters the competitions for you is going to charge you less than it costs you to enter.

If you accept that most competitions attract a thousands of entries - probably not too much argument there I hope, then you must logically accept that - all things being equal - you're going to have to make a large number of entries in order to win, and that is going to take a considerable amount of time.

The next question is, is it sensible to type all the entries in 'longhand' or is it better to use aids like Roboform. A lot of people like Roboform, but really the next logical step is to sub-contract out the whole process. You don't have to look very hard to find companies that will enter competions for you and you can bet that they're not employing armies of people to type in the information for them, they've automated the whole kaboodle. What you're also doing then is freeing up the time you spend entering competitions - and potentially winning not very much - to do something else where you might actually make some real money to clear your debts/take that holiday/whatever.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not some heretic coming onto a competition board to tell you you're all wasting your time - I'm just looking at it from an efficiency point of view. I can see that there is a great community spirit on this board, and thats definitely a good thing, but at the end of the day - how much 'fun' is there filling in form after form???

Please take this in the spirit of adding to the debate, rather than 'dissing' anybody.

    .

Do lots of you do this daily?

Yes, although i do miss a day here and there and get very upset.

    Do you enter everything?

No I have done in the past and their the prizes I win. So its a bit pointless winning something you cant use/dont want. Unless I know friends/family who would want it. Sometimes its just the thrill of winning (whatever it is) thats so good.

How much of your time do you spend comping?

Way too long. i.e. i should be revising tonight but this is far too important. I tend to enter during my lunch then jump on for an hour when i get home. then later on at night for 1-2 hours. my partner says im obesses, but then it does keep me quiet.

    Do you enjoy it?

Yep the thrill of the call or email saying youve won something is just the best,

Can you tell that I'm nosey?

Yeah but im enjoying reading the answers so thanks. It's nice to know im not the only one spending anythign up to 4 hours a day comping.

How long have you all been comping?

On off comps from the papers for about 3 years however only started 'proper' comping about 2 months ago.

Is there a thread somewhere where you've all already had this discussion?:o

I only actually enter comps where I want the prize. I dont enter comps if I wouldn't make use of the prize.

I suppose lots of people do - and then flog the prize on Ebay?

I'm totally against ebay for the whole reselling ticket thing so would never do that.

    Hello Sid :hello:

I think you will find that a lot of the compers on here actually use roboform anyway :)

Say if we all did get someone to pay to enter the competitions for us then there wouldn't be a use for this board :( and its a great place to be, the banter is great which I think is a huuuuuuuge part of why people come on here to enter the comps themselves, it does make it more enjoyable and less monotonous

Plus I'd be done out of a job posting the compies :D

If I paid someone to do my comps for me, I would have a lot of spare time & would probably go and spend money. :rotfl::rotfl:

    ^10p a comp?!!! I was thinking more like 1p/ten comps entered :p

Am I the only one here who leaves all the comps to mount up for a week and then enters them all over one weekend?? I'm lazy and get bored easily, haha.
