I put my postcode in and it says I am HIGH for flooding - well yes there is a river at the bottom of the road BUT it is downhill so for my house to flood the rest of England would need to be totally undewater first.

All it does is look at how close to a river you are - it does not take into account that you are uphill of the river.

Also it says we are HIGH risk of pollution from industrial pollution - seeing as we live at the edge of a small town which is a farming town the only pollution is cow poo so that does not make sense.

There is also a HIGH risk as there is a high level of industrial use in this postcode historically - again makes no sense as unless you class cows and sheep as industry there just is none.

So be wary of using this site.
It's not paranoia if they really are after you.

The site is as good or as bad as other house websites giving free information and they all have disclaimers.

When you input your postcode into the home page of Homecheck it is followed by a page of "important information" explaining that the site is not specific to your particular address and the information maybe inaccurate.

This site is no worse for me than the house prices websites as none of them have details of over 8 properties that I know that have sold in the last 2 years in 3 different areas.

With all housing websites it is important to read the important information, terms and conditions of use.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
