can anyone tell me which is the cheapest on orange mobile to call Spain to Uk AND vice versa as H will be here and I will be there!
We are both on orange.

I have looked at the phone cards/travel and roam on orange but am so confused do not know which is the best one, or should I get a spanish sim so that I do not get charged twice for calls and texts?

I will be there 3 weeks...

    Orange don't have cheap roaming.

You could get more complicated by getting one of the global roaming SIMs with an Isle of Man number, but they cost £25 or £30, and if it's for this one visit rather than regular trips to a number of countries, I think I'd suggest either O2 UK pay&go or a Spanish SIM, possibly both.

Take a look at O2's Chosen Country - Spain, which for £5 a month gives incoming calls free, outgoing at 25 pence a minute.

I reckon you could use this with a spare old phone, and maybe even leave your Orange one at home, thus making both lots of inclusive minutes available to call you.

You could call him very briefly to set up a call, or perhaps just hang up after a couple of rings, and let him call you back. If you expect incoming calls from other people, then you could either forward your Orange phone to the O2 number, or let your husband answer them, or leave a message on your answerphone with the other number

The ordinary tariffs on Spanish SIMs aren't too clever, but there are one or two interesting add-ons, like Vodafone Spain's 60 for 1 minutes option, which you could use to a local access number on a calling card used to then reach preferably your landline.

Or, getting more complicated - for a lot of outgoing calls, you might look into using a callback service with the O2 SIM, which converts incoming to outgoing calls and would undercut O2's 25p

I hope those ideas are useful, and I could expand a couple of points. Also, if you want to read more on roaming, then see Martin's article and its discussion thread.
