    Hey all,

Thank you so much for popping in. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling :) Need to make my ramblings more interesting tho!

KP - I will check out simple living in suffolk; thanks. Also yes I am keeping cash savings in ISA (hangs head in shame once again :o). The reason being is that I've only recently taken on some self employed work (on a part time basis) and I've been saving my estimated tax in there (plus a bit extra) as I wasn't sure about the rules for being taxed on your savings interest so figured the ISA would simplify it. I MUST look into another current account tho I agree. Wondered about the new Tesco one. Only have to pay £750 in and it didn't mention dd's. I will have to put research onto my 'to do' list, promise :p.

INOD - hope you got the brew I left for you :) to be honest, DH and I are both 'just ok' re: DIY, but we're learning (well he is; my brain switches off anything practical, it's one of my main weaknesses!).

I totally agree with what you're saying re: throwing food away (bad, bad....) and I am a bit of a boom and bust person; I have periods of great energy and motivation and then would love to stay in bed for weeks (I don't, but I'd have to watch that if I did get financially independent, lol). I would like to take your very wise advice, and am going to think about breaking stuff down into smaller goals INCLUDING my health / fitness, and that of DH, as he eats what I give him, and is now the heaviest he has ever been :(

In addition, DH didn't get a job today that he was really hoping for (and confident about) and as his current post is unbearable, I'm not sure what will happen. I've encouraged him to sack it off rather than risk his health / happiness but he's very dedicated, and a hard worker, and would feel pretty rubbish if he chose to give up a permanent job and not contribute. I better not put too much on here as he's a lot more private than me, but I'm very worried about him, and if I'm healthier, it means that my income can be topped up by extra work, making us less reliant on his wage. That increases options e.g. part time work / contracts less than 12mths etc. We could just about scrape by without his wage if we were extra frugal, but I can see his point that it wouldn't be ideal, especially as the overpayments would have to mostly stop :(

Stay tuned for some lists of goals I think!

In more MSE news, I got some marking sent to me (not sure if that's job 2 or 3; it's technically job 5 as I've not done exam marking before but before it sounds insane, 3 of the 5 jobs are uni related lol). It'll be another £105 anyway before tax, so I'm happy about that :j

Went to @ldi and spent £35.00 including meat, chicken, fish, fresh veg and fruit that should last us the week if we're careful, so that's a good start on both the MSE and weight front :T

Also found out that the storage is going up to £177 per month!!!!!:mad:

If I have to sleep in the bloody wardrobes, they're now coming to the new house asap, as that is ridiculous......

CR - the fleas were at my mum and dads w here the cats are currently residing (sob). It's for the best tho, as they'd just stick to the wet plaster and paint and/or escape. It seems to now be under control (touch wood). Horrible, yucky thing! I feel your pain re: washing!!! Hope you're all clear too.

Hope everyone is having a good day - off to catch up with diaries now x

Hi Gib, sounds like you have heaps going on at the moment. I'm in awe of how you keep up with all your jobs - I often struggle with my two!

I hope DH finds a new job that he enjoys soon. There is nothing worse than dreading going into work.

Good luck with your diet. I feel like I'm spending lots of money on food at the moment but eating utter rubbish most of the time. My OH also seems to have put on quite a bit of weight recently so I need to get it sorted for both of us.

Hey misstara, and thanks. Hopefully we can get us both (and our OH's) sorted; fit and healthy and ready to face the world!

Well today was not a NSD but didn't go mad. Met with the plasterer, and learnt more that we can do ourselves to save on costs. He's really good - teaching us a bit as we go along, and willing to fix our mistakes!

Bought a few bits and made potato, onion, bacon and cheese 'bake' as a side dish to some salmon (found it on the 'two meals for 50p' thread in the old school section). Very yummy and loads of leftovers for tomorrow. I'm really keen to be a bit more creative with my cooking, and want to start using lentils and pulses more to save on cost. If I make them taste nice enough, DH may even join me :)

Right, must get off to do some work. I'd much rather catch up with everyone's diaries. I might set myself a target - 20 mins MSE for each report.....

    who am I kidding, lol

    Hope all are well x

  • Sounds like an awful lot going on there Gib :( ...hope it all works out okay :D

As far as the health/fitness stuff is concerned, I am planning on doing something about mine in a couple of weeks (when I get back from my hols ;)) so maybe we can spur each other on? I'm aiming to start at the beginning of August...not sure what I'm doing yet, perhaps a 'detox' type of thing for a couple of weeks (nothing too drastic, just plenty of fruit/veg/pulses, avoiding meat and alcohol and drinking plenty of water) and then a more long term plan for the future that doesn't rely as heavily on alcohol as my current calorie consumption does!!:rotfl:

Hey IC2D; thanks for your kind words! Hope you're doing well yourself x
I definitely think we should spur each other on diet wise. I put another 1lb on tonight at weigh in, which isn't getting me any closer to my op. I'm up for a sensible detox, and August is good for me too. Count me in :)

Well technically a NSD today as my slimming club is prepaid for the next few weeks. Not much else to report except for a discussion with a friend re: MSE (we're both very focused) and otherwise I've just focused on earning the money to get DH and I to our goal.

Hope all are well? Now on that earning front, I must start writing reports if I hope to get to bed this side of the weekend......

    Gib :) x

Argh!!!! Damn - now I really have to do it :)

Well been to job 4 today and earned a few more pennies. Did splurge a bit on a meal out last night (well DH did) but we enjoyed it so not going to dwell too much.

Not much other news really. Plasterer (hopefully) starting tomorrow so although expensive, I'm looking forward to having a living room.

Hope everyone else is well? x

    Hey Gib,

Hope all is well with you. Looks like you're keeping busy, how you manage to stay motivated is beyond me...maybe you could bottle some and send and it to me...would be a great help :D

    Hi DM,
I wish I was as motivated as all that. I think sometimes that the diary seems like I am, because I'm more likely to write stuff that I've done, rather than the 100's of things I've avoided doing.
Atm I've very behind with work since being poorly, and struggling to catch up (although I have more time in theory since being allowed to work from home some of the time). I suppose ongoing health issues, a poorly DH, a poorly mum and feeling a bit overwhelmed with where to start may be to blame. Plus I've got a 'lazy' vibe going on atm; not good.

On a MSE front it's been a mixed bag. Did have a takeaway on Sat (after pizza on Fri) and felt the consequences both physically and mentally. NO MORE.....need to refocus.

After reading some brilliant stuff on here tonight, I've calculated that I'm paying approximate daily interest of just under £16 per day on the mortgage. That really adds up and as I'm not in a position to overpay yet till the loan is gone, it's money trickling away each time I'm less focused. I did read something earlier about striking a balance between taking on TOO much work, and doing as much as you can whilst you can. As I'd love to have babbies in the not too distant future (and I'm main breadwinner) I need to get my !!!!! in gear.

I did batch cook chilli tonight tho....onwards and downwards.

Hope all are doing well? x
