    :j :j :j :j :j :j!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WELL DONE DH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, I told you, he didn't need crossed things! This *draws a line* right here is your new start. This is where everything begins again, and happiness glues it all together.

Yay to living this month on next months earnings. it's YNAB in reverse ;) if it is going to happen anyway, what better time to start practicing than when you have overflow if necessary to contain any much-ups or unexpecteds!

Ref takeaway coffees... Every Tuesday when dropping Jellytot at nursery Him & I used to get a C0sta on the way back to start our 'free' day. £6.60  - working this out over a year shocked me rigid and stopped me dead. I love the 'demotivator' tool on MSE! Instead, I googled the 'Monin' coffee syrups and found I could buy a litre bottle for £6.95. (Our orders were hazelnut soya hot chocolate & caramel hot chocolate) - I ended up buying a little tester caramel bottle for £3 from Sains when they stocked it once recently. And I bought some hazelnut milk for me. Worked a treat. Now the most we spend when we have time together is 39p each on a giant lidl pretzel :rotfl:

And the combat to takeaways is a meal plan I have discovered. I've meal planned for several successive weeks and it has become really easy because I can reuse some recipes, add in a new one here and there to make it interesting/seasonal and I don't have a gap where I can fit a takeaway. A lot of my recipes are very quick and easy. And I shop to my meal plan, and have cut my costs so dramatically it is incredible. Still had a chinese last night :rotfl: but even that was budget ;) Anyways, I have a meal plan spreadsheet which I am more than happy to send you/anyone who wants an easy way to write it all down :D it's even got separate meal plans each day for individuals, i.e. my work meals, Jellytots nursery lunches etc.

Most of all though... I hope you and DH find that none of those things really matter in the grand scheme of it because the relief that I could read in your post about his job makes you both as happy and light as a feather :D

Lots of hugs, and give DH a well done squeeze from me. It is more than the right decision, it is the only one! xx

  • Hi all,

Thanks for the congrats juliff - much appreciated!

Hi amy. Your experiences really seem to echo my own. I hope that you get time for yourself, and nice things done for you too (and that you are feeling well at the moment). Btw, DH is lovely you're right :) Thanks for the good luck!

Hey gap - hope you don't get too bored reading!

Lilt - thanks so much for your kind words. You're right about the demotivator; I need to keep using it, especially as I'm determined to find overpayments from somewhere. I will pass on your good wishes to DH, I know he'll be really happy to hear your take on things.

Hey misst - he starts in about 1 month. There may be a week gap between jobs, but if this happens, it coincides with my birthday so that would be a happy bonus. I'd rather have time with DH than any present anyway (although we have actually bought a joint birthday / Christmas present which I will confess about at some point soon, lol)

Been and got weighed, and miraculously lost weight. Not sure how that happened, but it's pleasing :) Unfortunately, we've got a leak under the sink, one of our new kitchen unit doors doesn't close properly now, and the oven has started to make a high pitched noise. We also have no heating and it's getting colder. Bit worried about house costs, but am determined not to panic!

Hope everyone else is getting on well? I should be doing some proper meal plans / extreme budgeting over the weekend so will be ready to share. Am working jobs 1 and 2 tomorrow, and job 2 on Saturday but it's BANK HOLIDAY so two whole days off in a row :j x

    Can't sleep :(
Watching south park :) and will try again shortly.
Yesterday wasn't no spend, but my brother treated us to tea (nice), and I got £6.58 off my petrol with tesco fuel save. My dad also bought me my favourite Yorkshire gold tea, so feeling spoiled!
1/2 day work today today and meeting friends later. I will get some work done at some point I promise lol.
Hope everyone else is well X

Yeahhh!!! Well done on losing weight! And woohoo for two days off. I don't know I am born, I get 4 days off each week! And 3 days of holiday time nets me 11 days off in a row. I am a lucky lucky girl (after 9 years of 40 hours a week I deserve it ;))

Lulabelle your dad sounds lovely. I adore mine too. He gets softer and softer in his old age. <3

Hope you got back to sleep Gib. I woke up at 25 past 6 and thought that was bad. Too much on your mind? Keep a notepad by the bed xx

  • Hi Gib sorry for not posting sooner but sometimes real life just interferes. Brilliant news for OH. It must be such a relief for you too not having to worry about how long his health would hold out given the stresses. I cut back hours at one point for the same reason. tell him that your living costs will decrease as your home life will gain structure and last minute costly things reduce. you will also eat for less as there's more prep time available and the DIY needs may also reduce. (this doesn't apply to me as i'm useless where anything practical is concerned!) you two will be grand. you've faced down the bad bits. as for how other people view thsi like the saying goes, those who mind don't matter and those who matter, don't mind
