Hey
Ic2d thanks - I am enjoying it so far! Hope you're well?
Lula - that sounds amazing. Love Bridget Jones; your dad sounds like such a sweetie!
Lilt - dads are awesome. You definitely deserve the time off, and you do so much anyway with Jelly that they're not really 'days off' as such. I do have a tendency to be lazy tho, so sometimes I'm better not having too long off in a row, or I just veg. Saying that, need to book annual leave in Oct / Nov as I do fancy a week just laying around, lol.
I don't sleep all that well at the best of times, and more so during the day rather than at night when I 'should' do; I try not to get too stressed about it tho.
INOD - nice to 'see' you and real life definitely does get in the way. I hope you're doing ok and getting some rest as well as being busy? Thanks for your kind words, and you're so right about the relief that DH is feeling so much better already, and he is planning on all the cooking / DIY that he is going to get done. I think he might just need a couple of weeks resting on the days he is off (he should start the two day job pretty much straight away) and I won't blame him if he does.
KP - thank you so much!!! How awesomeMy lips are firmly shut tho :A I hope to be able to share stories of super frugality shortly
Unfortunately...atm it hasn't kicked in yet. Haven't gone mad, but the food / restaurant / treat spend this month is ridiculous. YNAB has 'punched me in the face' and told me to get a grip. None of my clothes fit, and with the trousers still missing, I may need to go to work in my pyjamas again (although even they have a hole in them). Not sure how my clients would react to fancy dress....hmm....
In other news (confession time) I bought a Kenwood Prospero (reduced from £250 to £124). It is an 'all in one' food mixer, processor, blender and 'juicer' and is just gorgeous. We don't have any of the above mentioned appliances, so given that we've watched the price decrease twice, and it is my birthday and the dreaded C shortly, we gave in and treated ourselves (well treated me really but DH is going to be cooking loads more and wanted it too). Very exciting, but naughty purchase. Lets hope it pays for itself in convenience/opportunity.
Right off to read diaries. Hope all are well and happy Sunday xDebt remaining:

Glad that DH is starting to feel better - you both deserve the happiness after all you have had to go through recently!
The 'spending lots before the super frugal kicks in' sounds horribly familiar to me!!When I walked away from my last job into a period of unemployment, I seemed to spend more than I had in donkeys....I think it was down to panicking that the good times were over!!
Don't worry about it, it will all come good in the end and you will get to where you want to be - the main thing is to just enjoy the happiness that the decision has brought, rather than focus on the challenges that lie ahead... a less stressed husband and a less worried you is worth more than any income can bring to you
The super frugality will kick in eventually and we will all be here to support it!Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Thanks IC2D I think you're right...it's like going on a diet, and eating everything in sight the day before because 'it's the last time; honest'
Thanks for your kind words. Things are definitely better already. Roll on the end of his notice, and it'll be even better I'm sure!
INOD - I'm definitely with you on the soups. I used to make quite a lot until my blender gave up a couple of years ago. I do have a hand blender (somewhere) but tend to spray boiling hot soup in my eye when I use that. I'm also excited about the food mixer for cakes / biscuits, and am going to try bread and pastry for the first time once the kitchen has its last coat of paint. Very exciting!
Hope everyone is having a nice bank holiday whatever they are doing. I haven't got up yet and have just had a cup of tea brought to me in bed. This is the life.
No work has yet been done tho.....oops. I'll regret this later, lol xDebt remaining:

Well well well giblet, you promise us frugality and what do we get?! :rotfl:
With all honesty, I think you and OH deserve a little bit of splashing the cash. But then I've just been watching this so.. anything looks frugal compared.
ICTD; I had a similar but opposite experience. When I got my job after about 5 months of not being in Uni, I absolutely refused to spend any of it. I think I just didn't know what to do with it.0 -
Ooh...I'll have a look at that later!
Frugal service will be resumed shortly...that's a definite promise!
Have spent most of the morning entering competitions (you never know) and browsing on here. Heavenly start to the day
My excuse for not doing work this hour is that it's in the boot of the car and I can't go out in my pyjamas................
Time to put the kettle onx

Hi Giblet! Wanted to pop in and say hello! Sounds like you have been through the mill lately, so pleased to hear your DH has this new job, mental health is just as important as physical health! I will be subscribing to keep nosing!
Also wondered what you have left to do on the dream house? Hows it coming along? Also as a fellow horror fan have you seen sinister? Same folk as Insideous, scared the bejesus out of me!

Hey jodles,
Nice to see you herethe dream house still has a fair bit to be done really. A 'short' list would be:
Kitchen - 1 coat of paint, floor (sticky tiles) and accessories
Bathroom - all paint and flooring plus accessories
Living room - currently in a state of demolition therefore overskimming then paint / carpet etc to be done
Dining room - needs preparation for overskimming and ceiling plus paint etc. Trying to save the carpet as is for now, although it won't really match
Office - preparation and painting walls as they are / painting floor and putting up shelves. Will be a bit rough, but expect most walls to be covered with books / files
Eventually, three more rooms upstairs will have to be redecorated (one needs the whole room ripping out) but the above is to be done initially. Then the existing carpets will be steam cleaned, and the hall and stairs will get a patch up and cover of magnolia (just to cover the worst of the probs from the rewire etc). Hall and stairs saving fund will commence once the windows are paid for, as this is too high and will have to be done professionally eventually.
I think that's about it! As you can imagine, there is a lot more to it e.g. garden, outside paint work / guttering, boiler servicing (as we currently have no heating, not sure why as it's only 2yrs old) but we are trying not to get overwhelmed or ahead of ourselves as it is a lifetime project
I feel tired now, lol. Off to put the kettle on again.
Oh btw, I think we borrowed Sinister from a friend but can't find it in 'the move'. We will be watching it tho when it turns up. Saw cabin fever 3 on Friday - gory fun! Just about to watch Gattaca; I love NOW TVx

Is Sinister new?
I saw Cabin Fever: Patient Zero the other day and my god the fight scene between the girlfriend and the scientist! Bwa ha ha.
Horror movies tend to be really cheap in charity shops, that's where I get mine0
