    Hey all,

DM - surprisingly, the advance orders haven't been rolling in. I'm sure it'll pick up ;)

IC2D - thank you for your post. It really hit home. I'm sorry you've been through so much, but it is really encouraging to hear your story. I know both you and SS have been there and come through it with such determination; it is the psychological effects that I worry about most.

Thanks also for the hugs and good wishes all; I've passed them on to DH.

Unfortunatley, we've done the financials, and from being pretty certain that notice would be given after DH's week's leave, it's looking a bit less likely. The money just doesn't add up atm :(

There are definitely savings to be made, and other avenues that we're exploring (I will share more when I can) but it has led to DH feeling disappointed, and me feeling guilty that I can't do more.

Hope everyone is well, and sorry again for moaning.

Oooh...in MSE news, my lovely dad was cooking burgers when we popped round, so a free lunch was had. That meant we have chicken for tea and lunches (we were intending to feed them). It was a NSD too, and I'm going to have a look in the fridge and freezer and try to meal plan for the week to reduce spends. We're going to try and cut spending to an absolute minimum to see how close we can get to just my basic income (can't rely on jobs 2-5 for the essential bills.....)

Anyway off to make a brew. Anyone want one? x

    Hi Gib

Sorry to hear that the numbers don't add up for DH leaving work. I hope that you manage to make the savings to make it possible and am intrigued as what the other avenues may be. Good luck with it all.

As me and OH are effectively a one wage household, I know how difficult it is feeling like everything is depending on you. However, stop feeling guilty about not being able to do more - I'm in awe of how much you do already :)

  • Missed the tea, can I have a hot choc please?

Don't feel guilty Gib. I would have carried on with my job if I hadn't found another. You are aware of DHs situation so can support him. My DH worked away and so I had no support and would have appreciated that.

    Hope things work out. :)

I am squeaking by because I am trying to catch up with the lovely people who post in my diary. Unfortunately my painkillers are kicking in and so I can't see straight :rotfl: - I haven't read a word.

I will be back to do that when I am a bit less doped up. Can you believe I go to work like this sometimes? I feel like saying words such as 'Duuuuuuuuuude' and flashing a peace sign. I'm not convinced I would do it the right way round at the minute.

I remember why I kept saying no to Valium when the doctor kept pushing it on me. ^ things like that!

Gib, thank you so much for your contribution to my diary. I think I have a whole Jellytot & Him free Tuesday so if I don't make it back before then, I will be back and reading all the way. :)

    Peace out man. :rotfl:

ps Gib, is there anyway DH can drop a few hours temporarily. I just had a bit of a thought about how if I could have had an extra day off (like I am now) it may have given me a bit of breathing space. Just a thought. X

    Hi all,

No problem about the tea DM and one hot chocolate winging your way SS.

Thanks again for your comments re: DH and the general situation.

Miss t - it's nice of you to say, thank you, but I don't do anything special. I agree that it's hard being the 'breadwinner' although it's also nice to have that security, if that makes sense, and DH and I see ourselves as a team, therefore it' a no brainer for me to focus on work etc.

Hey lilt - lovely to see you over here; I chuckled at your painkiller and Valium high, but am sorry that you're having so many problems with your back. Feel free to pop in anytime, 'with it' or not :D

SS - unfortunatley DH said there is no chance of dropping hours, and that even if they did agree, he would just have 5 days work in 4 days. Really need to get him out of that place. I feel a cunning plan coming on.......

Well...I've had two NSD's (thanks to borrowing 2 bananas from the folks, and a food related present from our lovely neighbours which has done breakfast and puddings). We will have to go shopping tomorrow, both food and also clothes as I seem to have lost my trousers :o Goodness knows what I've done with them. It's not like I take them off in random places or anything ;)

DH and I also desperately need trainers and work shoes, but happily, I got paid by a client representative from job 2, so that is a few hundred pounds breathing space (but to be spent carefully and thoughtfully). Any left over will go into our new category on YNAB, the FU fund :p

Hope everyone else is getting on well? Looking forward to catching up on diaries later, but now must go and put tea on.......

    Gib x

    Hey diary,

Well we ended up going shopping last night, and spent just over £50 for four tops, 2 bras, 7 pairs of socks and a significant 'top up' shop as we were completely out of fruit and veg and coffee for work. Quite pleased with that (although there were no tops or trousers suitable for me which was a bit annoying). I did manage to find an old one at home that I haven't worn for a while, but the trousers are still MIA...anyone seen a rather large pair of trousers on their travels????

Today has been a NSD but tonight will not be, as DH has asked if we can get a takeaway to celebrate him finishing a particularly nasty project at work. I said of course we can (and we have vouchers for our only other planned 'outing' this month). Also, ordering through 'just eat' there are usually double nectar points to be had, plus I don't need to go out and get it which is a bonus!

I have had an appt rearranged this week, so although I'll be very late on Friday, I have an unexpected Saturday off. I'm not going to tell DH till the last minute (if I can keep it to myself) and then I'll surprise him (we hate being apart - soppy I know, plus I think he sometimes feels bad when I work 6-7 days). I do have to finish a load of marking by Monday tho - why do I leave it till the last minute!!!!

Hope everyone is having a happy and productive MSE'ing day x
