Car failed MOT- what do to with it?

Still a pretty strong bill for a car that sounds like it has a warped front disc and the handbrake mechanism stripped and cleaned.0

Offside front hose is insecure Brake hose has insufficient room to move, resulting fouling on any part
Sounds as if this brake hose wasn't installed correctly - I can't think of a reason it would develop these faults if it was on right in the first place. Hoses deteriorate over time (a long time), or chafe, or get damaged, but they don't become insecure if they were secured properly to start with, especially given the vast amount you've spent maintaining the brakes.
I guess the electronic handbrake complicates matters, and the ABS unit would be expensive to replace if it needed it, but I agree with everyone else - shop around to see how much you could get it mended for.0 -
Looking at euro car parts the following is costs,
Front calipers £61.20p each
Rear calipers £105 each
Rear disk and pads £60.08 pair
Front disk and pads £64.21
Total £456.59
So lets say Pagid parts above leave's fitting cost's of £350 ish to yo..
Plus all four calipers to be faultyThat is very rare in my view.
You can get them cheaper probably (I just saved 30% off the Eurocar parts price of front discs and pads for an accord - mintex was the brand). Mister auto - the parts came 48 hours after ordering.
Anyway, in my humble oppinion better spending £800 to make the whole system last another life time, if there is nothing much else wrong with the car, and budget to run it for another 4 years (200 quid a year, 60p a day) than go out and buy something unknown..
But then I believe in Durable car ownership, where I just ignore the value of the car I've got, and look at whether fixing for another year of motoring is cheaper than a years depreciation on it's replacement.0 -

Exactly. I always say its better the devil you know. My car is worth peanuts, but I'll happily pay to get things fixed if need be.0 -

totally agree why spend more on another car that could be worse & more expensive.
op, what work has been done because it sounds like really poor work, cheap nasty parts or you have been charge for work not carried out0
