Electoral Roll - on it or not??

Slightly confused here....
I did a 'soft search' on the Barclaycard credit card acceptance site and it came back stating they couldn't state whether I would be accepted as it seems I may not be showing on the electoral register.
I have just contacted my local authority and they have come back stating that I am on the electoral register.
When I go on 192.com I am not showing as registered for this year, and neither is my son.
Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Sometimes it can be a problem with the formatting of the address (particularly people who live in flat numbers seem to have problems).
Did you give barclaycard your address in the same format as the council use for the electoral roll?
Might be worth checking your credit files to see if its all that don't have you on the e/r or just one?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I used the same format that the council uses. And when I re-registered I just filled in their form and send it back to them as per every other year so I cannot see why there should be a problem. My address really is a very simple one, no flat numbers, house names, or anything out of the ordinary, just house number, street, city, post code.
On 192.com I do not show up as being registered (and neither does my son at same address) for 2014 when I just enter names and town, although we are showing up for previous years. When I check other people/family members at other addresses in my city they are showing up as being registered for 2014. So I don't see how it can be a formatting glitch?0 -
Yes I have had constant problems with this due to registering in the anual canvass last year and the year before - the CRA's take absolutely forever to update! They just have though and my details are now on all 3 CRA's so I imagine yours should be too, unless as Tixy mentioned there is an issue with an unusual address format.
Noddle is free to check so you can sign up there if you're not already. It's not as indepth as the other 2 but generally updates later than they do, so if your ER is on there it most likely will be on the others too, though it is worth paying for your £2 statutory reports just in case.0 -
I guess the bigger question is do you want to be on the electoral roll.
Weigh it up:
nice credit rating vs. consenting to be governed over by elitist bunch of hypocrites (at best)0 -
All well and good worm... if you don't want to ever have credit! Unfortunately all lenders seem to rely on the CRA's, and until that changes if you want credit you have to play their game.0

So it would seem. But perhaps it's time the worm doth turn en masse0 -
Don't Noddle update at the end of the month? I'm still not showing on it.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

They've updated mine. Although that could be because I sent them daily dispute emails? LOL0

And a potential £1000 fine if they chose to prosecute for failing to return the form.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -

Not being on the electoral roll doesn't mean you haven't consented to abide by the country's legislation.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
