You don't know the actual postage costs until the item arrives...
If an item arrives and the postage and packing costs don't appear to reflect what I paid I will contact seller, if no joy, low stars on P&P.
Is a seller wants to up their profit margin on P&P then they will get low p&p stars for their cheek.
And yes I may have been happy with the total price,
BUT
I wont be happy if my item arrives with a massive mark up.
The clue is in the name POSTAGE AND PACKING
Its not PROFIT AND PROCEEDS!!!
There is no extra profit as the final price is lower.
Ebayers should start having to take an IQ test.
And Ebay no-longer care about postage and it will not count it anymore.
The less educated of the Ebayers have helped them get away with adding 10% fees on postage.
Result, dumb buyers pay 10% more.:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I run a online shop (not on Ebay) and I always ensure I package my items very well 1. because it gives your buyer a good first impression and 2. it's not worth the risk of damage. I would ask to have your postage refunded - if they care at all about their feedback score and future business they will agree - good luck!
Must admit i cringe at some of the items handed over at our PO. Barely held together with an odd bit of sticky tape. Often surprised PO staff don't say anything. I'd be surprised if most of them get there. I over-pack - but at least i know it should get there in one piece.
One lad was posting a bin liner of clothes - and it was the cheap bin liners. There was an hole where they tear off - and he had just tied the top. Clothes were sticking out. I pointed it out and PO woman advised him to buy a large mailing bag. He looked at me in disgust lol. But i had done him a favour.
Sellers who underpack are risking it getting lost or damaged - its in their own interest to pack properly.0 -

If a seller inflates the postage price to get the price they want, so they can avoid the insertion fees, then that is correct??
If they want a certain price include it in the item price and don't hide it in the p&p.
Like you have correctly said there is no need as 10% is charged on postage now as well, the only valid reason is to avoid insertion fees.
And the result of this, they are going to reduce private seller free listings from 100 to 20 a month, and have a blanket 35p a listing insertion fee after that.
So the sellers inflating postage to avoid insertion fees has ruined that for private sellers.
And I think you will find it was the sellers charging 99p for the item then £99 p&p that helped add 10% fees on postage.0
