OP says the car is 3 years old.

If it was under 3 years at the time of sale 4 months ago then there would have been no MOT and no previous ones to check out on line anyway.

OP -when was the MOT actually due? Before or after you bought the car?

the car is 3 years 6 months old to be precise

Hopefully no more problems from now on.

Surprised it needed brakes at only 3 years old.

Is it a low mileage car? Maybe ex Motability?

They can suffer with sticky brakes causing premature wear.

Hopefully you shoild have no more issues.

And now you are aware of what to check for next time.

A newish Astra should give a few years reliable service.

Always felt the Astra was greatly underestimated due to the popularity of the Focus.

Focus' are now starting to have issues whereas Astras of similar vintage are holding up much better.

Agreed, Astra'a hugely underrated , am thinking myself of getting an astra next year after having (touch wood) 4 years mainly trouble free motoring with my mk1 focus
