I could never go low carb, I don't see the point in almost cutting out a whole macro
  • Tink, you're telling us that you're struggling. You have appalling sleep patterns, you have a lot of pain, you have emotional issues and self image issues. You quite clearly don't feel good.

One of the reasons for this could be the foods that you aren't prepared to remove from your diet. If you took them out for a short period, say eight weeks, you might find that you feel much better. And then, you can reintroduce them and see if you notice any change for the worse.

Think I'm on about eight stone lost since last January now. No idea anymore, but I'm wearing size 14s. There have been times when I've been totally fed up and feeling ill because it became a financial issue driving it for a few months, but, tell you what, I know what feeling hungry is like as a result. It's nowhere near as distressing as emotional discomfort being disguised as hunger or subconsciously suppressed by carbs and fat.

I'm sure you're going to tell me that you aren't struggling or that it just won't work for you. Whatever. You have the information.

There are no magic foods or combinations. It doesn't happen instantly. It takes time. And you will in all probability enjoy a significant improvement in health if you were to increase the nutritional value of your meals. That isn't deprivation.

So I'd ask why you self sabotage with chocolate and pizza and crisps and refusal to exercise and instantly planning to increase portion sizes over and above what somebody who is normal weight has suggested. Are you afraid of gaining a more feminine figure? Of being physically weaker/less powerful by being smaller?
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Eh? If I was afraid of being smaller I wouldn't be losing weight

It's not self sabotage if I'm losing weight

And it's one pizza a week, it's not like I'm having one a day, again people focussing on the one treat a week, not the fact the rest of my diet is improving

I can see it from both points of view. Half a pizza a week is better than a pizza a day. Lots of people who eat well have cheat days. Doesn't work for me but for some people it does. Sometimes people can't do all or nothing even when they are losing weight.

I know many people who make a pizza with a warburtons wrap or similar as a base and Im sure you can get alternative versions, aldi do them I think and you can get them in wholemeal.

You just toast the wrap and add toppings, Ive tried the warburtons ones a few times and they are quite nice.

If you can't be bothered to make your own pizza bases, we have found flatbreads called piadini are just right. They aren't too thick and work really well. Cover in passata, grated cheese, plus toppings of choice. So much better than the rubbish you get in the supermarkets, and certainly better for you.

I also think the op was talking about upping jack monroes portions which are on the small side. We all have different appetites, tastes in foods.

Am sure loads of people on here know there's no one size fits all.

Even on slimming world people are allowed crisps , chocolate, cakes, alcohol. In moderation.

Exactly! Why's it so different for me!

Re the portion sizes, yeah that's what I was on about, I'm not eating less calories than I'm eating already, if those recipes allow for upping the portion I will, if I don't up it I will have something extra to eat to make up the calories
