    Not quite.
Bailey's is 17% ABV while wine is typically 12-14% and beers are normally between 4-6%

But people tend to drink more of them than Baileys, personally, as a non-drinker, I would ban alcohol altogether.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

Well, of course. If you don't why should anyone else be allowed to?

Why not? It's only the same stance as the anti-smoking brigade take over tobacco.

It was told to all colleagues in Sainsburys about this new change a month before the introduction of the policy. It should have been the same in all stores.

Or at least it was in my store.

However it does have to be noted that my store manager didn't actually know until it came down on a weekly newsletter from head office- the same day he told us.

    Excellent forward thinking. (Not)

    It's Sainsbury's policy throughout England!

No problem to me as I only use ethanol based products for cleaning!

Surely not in mouthwash, antifreeze , antibacterial gels, etc...

Not just in England - it's the same in Northern Ireland.

I remember when they first announced they'd be doing this in scotland to stop binge drinking (because obviously, its cheap alcohol that makes people drink to excess and not a lack of self control).

Even back then it struck me as idiotic. The majority of those binge drinking have little or no obligations/responsibilities (such as mortgage, car repayments, kids etc) meaning a large part (or all) or their income is disposable - in other words, a price hike isnt going to stop them drinking to excess. Its only going to really affect those already living on a budget who "treat" themselves now and again.

Personally I think they should introduce alcohol at a young age so it doesn't seem like something "special" and kids learn to drink responsibly. Not saying let them get plastered, but it shouldnt be treated as taboo in all circumstances.

You forget that any excuse to raise tax without too much opposition is good for politicians lol!
