Changes to staff discount and alcohol purchases by law! (& Brand Match type vouchers)

Was not sure where to put this so...
There has been apparently a change to the law which means it is no longer legal to use staff discounts to buy strong spirits, whiskey, vodka etc. or to buy liqueurs like Baileys.
It is also apparently now illegal to use vouchers like brand match for them (and the other supermarket price matching after purchase vouchers). You can still brand match and get a voucher when you buy them but you are not allowed to use that voucher, or any other voucher of its kind however obtained, to buy more of it.
This change does not affect wine and beer just the more alcoholic drinks and cocktails.
Found this out when buying the wife's Baileys at Sainsburys this evening, was expecting £3.60ish staff discount got 39p as this was 10% of the non Baileys purchases.
One more little helper from this caring sharing Government that they have kept very quiet about!

I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

Are you sure it's not just a Sainsburys rule?0

Just noticed you don't get Nectar points on them as well seems it has joined tobacco (which is not allowed by law) and Lottery purchases on the banned list.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0

6th April doesn't sound odd. It the change is related to taxation then it makes sense - the 2014 tax year started on 6th April.0

I've always thought it stupid that you can't get discount on tobacco and baby milk but you can on alcohol.
Nothing mentioned on Tesco staff website about any changes though.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -

You can still on Beer and Wine which I, as a non drinker, would consider to be a greater health evil than Baileys!
Nothing on Sainsburys ones either and I have been googling rather than working all morning to see if I can find where things have changed but so far found nothing.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
I personally think they are having you on. Unlike Scotland we are allowed promotions and discounts on alcohol. As such its up to the retailer if they want to offer discount.
A change in law could only make this happen, not the budget.0
