Yep, hindsight is perfect, isn't it! We do what we can, when we can, thats it, really. I didn't see the choice I had, thats all - I'm glad I can see it now!
Trying to find ergodi ... on ERE, and I can't see a search box. Any particular post I should be looking at? I'm curious, when I searched on google I could only find physics terms.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I just Googled ergod.... early retirement extreme, and it took me straight to the page
Had a nice day today. We went to Bluewater, and were quite spendy by today's standards, although very restrained by the standards of the 80's
We had breakfast at Carluccio's, Then looked round the shops for a while. My 'Meniere Man' cook book has lots of ideas for muffins, so I got a muffin tin from Lakeland. I also bought a dress for £38 from Wallis, a nice sparkly one for my upcoming cruise. Mr Goldie got his posh antiperspirant from Boots with his points, and I got the tote bag from JL with the MyJL voucher that I was sent. I don't really need a new tote bag, but it is a nice one with the penguin from the ad on it. I think I'll sell one of my old tote bags to make room.
When I got home, I checked the bank account, and noticed that Mr Goldie's winter fuel payment of £200 has gone in. He's entitled to this as a woman of his age is over state pension age. It's very welcome, and we do use it for bills, not to pay for shopping sprees! :rotfl:
My letter from my employer to confirm acceptance of my resignation has been received by post today.
They reckon I have 39.5 hours holiday to take, which they'll pay me for if I don't take it as holiday.
That's very nice of them......but according to my calculations it's more like 10 hours !
They've either forgotten to pro-rata it for me being part time, not taken into account I've had four days holiday this holiday year, or have given me a whole years entitlement, when I should only get about 5 - 6 months worth. Or all of the above !
So I'll have to query it tomorrow. No wonder I feel discombobulated from time to time!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Well, you're less discombobulated than they are!
Still can't find ergodibble on ERE - the universe must think its either beyond me, or I don't need it  in fact, the first thing that comes up is this page of your thread :j
Bluewater's sounds a good onehope today goes well too

I just had another search for ergo-thingy, and couldn't find it this time. Very weird
It was all about you get what you deserve.....or in other words ( as they said) Karma. Which links with your name nicely:)
I'm now in receipt of another letter from my employer, which confirms 9 hours holiday left to take. I worked it out as 10, but I'm settling for 9. I was considering taking a day off before I left, but I'm not going to bother now, I don't want to confuse them any further. I'll just get paid for the time.
HR also invited me to an 'Exit' interview.... on a Wednesday when I don't work. They don't seem very on the ball at all.
I've asked for an appointment when I'm in the office.
Today is the start of a new financial month - the last full month before we stop work :j and a bit of :eek:Early retired - 18th December 2014

Its Karma! See, I don't need it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: thats really good!
And flipping heck, I can understand why you're going to take the dosh for that 9 hours - they don't sound on the ball at all.
Not long to go now2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

If I had any doubts about stopping work, a day like yesterday would soon put those doubts to bed. As it is, it's just reinforced my feelings that I'm doing the right thing.
It was a very busy day for the team - the usual two suspects who aren't team players managed to avoid doing the things that were needed. Then we had computer problems which meant we had to stay late, and then the traffic on the journey home was hideous!
As KC says, not long to go now - just 7 working days.
Newgirly - I had the voucher for the bag as I'm a member of My John Lewis. You get quarterly rewards (often free coffee and cake, but sometimes other things. It's completely free, so if you join now, you might get a voucher for next year's tote bag!
Not much going on here today, very dull and damp outside.
I've bought two more dresses, for wearing on cruises. Another from Wallis, for £40, and one from eBay also for £40. The eBay one is not new, but it's in fabulous condition, and costs £110 new. I've wanted one of those dresses for ages, so I'm really pleased
I feel like I've suddenly spent a lot on clothes this week. It's a sort of last hoorah before our income drops
We got the Christmas cards down from the loft, so I'll start writing them soon. It's a task I don't really enjoy, so it's best to get it over withEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Sorry to hear your day was crummy yesterday. At least you have the end in sight
Well done on the dresses. It sounds like you will look "fabulous darling" on your cruise!
I sympathise with the card writing as I don't enjoy it either. I'm putting mine off until I have the ones to send overseas and I'm hanging on for payday to get those.
Have a good weekend hun0 -
Will have a look at John Lewis thanks. Where are you off to on your cruise goldiegirl?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
