The Big Adventure

These weeks are flying past, can't believe it's Monday again.
Over the weekend I sold 10 eBay items, which was a good haul, as the things for sale were on the eclectic side.
Nine people have paid, and the parcels are ready to go, so I'll get them posted this morning. I've got one large parcel, which I'm going to post via My Hermes. It's the first time I've used them- I normally use Collect + for a courier, but this parcel is too big for them. I've noticed My Hermes is cheaper, but the drop off isn't so convenient, so it's 'swings and roundabouts' really. Although I noticed that My Hermes also collect from the sender, so I could try that another time.
Anyhow, apart from that, it's housework time, plus the ironing I didn't finish yesterday. I may also get a few things listed on eBay, to start at the weekend. It makes things less of a rush at the weekend.
Anyway, better get on - have a good day, allEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I've just ordered a free beach bag from Special K cereal. Considering I want to declutter, and have no need of a new beach bag I'm not sure why I've done this...... I think it was just the word 'free' that made me do it!
Here's some flowers that I've been enjoying when looking out of the patio doorsEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Lovely flowers!
Well done on the bay of e sales.
I know I'm late to the party, but I bet you are glad you don't have to worry about the holiday thing...
We have set holidays apart from one whole week and 1 or 2 days (depending on how Christmas falls) It's very frustrating and I can imagine that having to get in first is just as bad!
Hope you are enjoying the sunshine.

Lovely flowers Goldie, very cheerful!
I always used Hermes for big parcels when Fleabaying (and sometimes for smaller ones too as often cheaper than RM). Always had them pick up from me and never had any problems, even though their reviews are pretty mixed.
They use local self employed people with cars for the local pick up / drop offs and using them often means you get to know them, so they look after your parcels a bit and you get to know when they do their "rounds" in your area.
So, when you book it for collection your receipt might say they'll pick up between 7am and 7pm, which sounds like a pain, but I know ours always comes round between 11 and 2, which helps to know! I've got to know ours pretty well and he always makes a fuss of the dogs etc now and my mum is on first name terms with hers and they phone each other to arrange pick ups / drop offs etc!
Incidentally it's the same service that Mus1cMagp1e use so that's another way to get to know your local courier.
I know what you mean about the clouds, got a couple of photos but missed the one I wanted by having to run back into house to get the camera!
Hope your week's good. xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Morning GoldieGirl, the flowers look beautiful
It's strange the companies don't realise the 'so what' of actions at times. Introducing a change like that to holiday booking without a booking 'window' is mad. It must be driving you all up the wall. I work with a few people who put their vacations in the system during the Xmas holiday, without any discussion about backups. Meaning everyone else in similar roles has to cover them and not book the same time off.
Madness
Have a good week and I hope it's a little cooler for you.

Even though the holiday thing isn't really my concern any more, I have been pondering on it.
Our work goes in peaks and troughs. The 1st of the month is always busy, and around 20th to 27th of the month is also busy, when our customers pay their staff's wages.
So my thought is, one person could be allowed holiday during the peak weeks, and two people could be allowed off in the non peak weeks. This might allow more people to have time off in the summer if they want it.
It'd probably be a bit difficult to administer, but I'll put in the suggestion, and let them discuss it.
Hbbb, I'm pleased with My Hermes so far - it's very easy to track the parcel from the confirmation email.
Unfortunately, I had another bout of vertigo last night.
The last time was the start of June, since then I've had odd moments of dizziness. But last night the room was moving and I felt sick. It was about 9pm, so I just went straight to bed, and laid quietly, until it passed. By. 10.30pm the room was still again, and as it was bed time I just went to sleep.
I feel ok this morning, but as a precaution, I'm going to take it easy today. I need a few bits from Sains, so I'll pop out shortly. I've got a couple of bits of housework, which won't take long, and I'll make my mega vat of chilli con carne. But I've shelved my plans to do gardening.
It's disappointing that I've had more vertigo. Like last time, I'd been doing a jigsaw when it struck. Maybe I'd been moving my head up and down a lot, looking at the pieces, which could have brought it on.
But I'm not going to stop doing jigsaws, it's one of my favourite pastimes.
Anyway, thanks for dropping by, and have a good day, allEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Sorry about the vertigo ...hope you are enjoying your day. Its certainly a lot cooler and fresher here.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Hi, Watty.
I've had a really nice relaxed day, and feel fine now.
I made my vat of chilli con carne, and it was enough for 5 meals.
Good thing it's my favourite dishEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Sorry about your vertigo, what a pain after that useful stretch without. Have you been given any medication for it? I have some thing to take when the nausea sets in, it does help but just like antihistamines it can make you really dopey.
Glad My Hermes is working out so far ... fingers crossed for safe delivery. xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!
