Yes, it was good to see the story from the original films being carried on, and with some good new characters as well. I love that, these days, girls do the fighting too, and don't just stand around screaming !Star Wars, yay! Which is more or less retirement time too - that'll be a great way to start!
Today's financial activity - Although our new Kent Reliance accounts are branch based, we can still check the balances online, so we both registered for online banking. The pages timed out so quickly - I had three attempts at it before it accepted me, and that was without checking carefully that I'd input all the details correctly! Then I did Mr Goldie's for him, as there's no way he'd be able to type quickly enough!:rotfl:
We had some bits and pieces for the charity shop, so we walked down to drop them off, then did some more walking around the roads.
The rowing machine is still being used each day, I'll do my stint just before dinner. We have a large Spag Bol in the slow cooker, so there'll be enough to freeze for another couple of meals
Can't believe it was Christmas Day just two weeks ago - it seems ages ago now!Early retired - 18th December 2014

You have made such a good start to the New Year. I seem to be in a slump at the moment and can't get going. DS1 & 2 go back to Uni this weekend, and I think once everything is back to normal I can get going again. It's a little hard to focus with 4 DSs around lol. Will miss them loads though. Your mention of Spag Bol has inspired to do some more batch cooking (this was supposed to take place over the Christmas hols and didn't seem to happen!). Am determined to re-motivate myself, so am going to start by claiming by TCB of just over a £100

Loving the passbooks. Might just open an account with Kent Reliance for the nostalgiaMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

When I was working full time, I used to find January very difficult, especially if I'd been off work all over Christmas. It seemed as if there was nothing to look forward to, and a real effort to get back to normality. I used to shake it off eventually....by February ! :rotfl:
But £100 TCB will be a big boost:)Loving the passbooks. Might just open an account with Kent Reliance for the nostalgia
I don't think it was a coincidence, but apart from us, all the other customers looked well over 75 - I expect the passbooks are a big attraction for people who aren't computer literate.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I used to love my passbook account, apart from the lack of interest, that is. I remember when they used to be hand written!
I do believe in celebrating every day and being glad that I am here rather than wishing away precious time, but January is a miserable month. Let's hope that nice things cheer it up for all of us.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

This Kent Reliance passport still is handwritten! I feel as if I've time travelled back 35 years or so!
A weird sort of day today - every time we thought about going out it started raining, so we didn't bother in the end.
I echo the sentiment about January - at least it's getting dark slightly later now
I can't work out if we have internet problems or not, or if the laptop is getting old and past it
This afternoon, the laptop was crawling along when it was loading websites, to the post where it was almost unusable, but the iPad was fine.
We still have the modem in the lounge, and I've been using the laptop in the dining room, rooms separated by a double door, and one of the doors is open, so it's almost the same room.
In the end I took the laptop into the lounge, next to the modem, and it was suddenly fine. I took it back to the dining room table, and it's still fine. So it seems the problem was cleared by walked a few yards in one direction and then back again.
Computers!! :mad:Early retired - 18th December 2014

I love passbooks! My kids still have them with their Skipton accounts, they're updated on a very old system that prints out in a font reminiscent of the 1980s! I have one passbook account there, but it's ancient, the interest rate is into minus figures so I just keep the £1 operating balance in there for nostalgia purposes
Am I the only person in the world who likes January then?Life is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0 -

No... but then I only like it cos I have a birthday this month0 -
Birthdays are good
I've noticed the days starting to get a tiny fraction longer - astronomically, it's just under 4 minutes a day, and that adds up!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
