Which NT property did you visit goldie and would you recommend it? How times change. Was out with friends last week and I was driver. One asked if we could stop on the way home at a garage to he could buy loo rolls and washing up liquid. We did laugh. Once upon a time after a night out it would be stop for a kebab - now - its loo rolls and washing up liquid

I was convinced that I'd never get old, but it's happening all the same. I'd like the confidence that I had when I was 21. I got married, started a new job and moved house all within a month. Now, any one of those things would make me a gibbering wreck, but I did all three at 21 without breaking my strideWhich NT property did you visit goldie and would you recommend it? It was The Vyne, at a little place called Sherborne St John. It's a red brick Tudor house, in nice grounds. If you are in the area, it's definitely worth a lookEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Thank you, I had a quick look at the website and it looks beautiful! Will definitely keep it in mind
Edit: Just looked on the map and it's near the M3 which we often take to visit family, excellent!"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012Married 2015

Yep ditto tooMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
It's very much an indoors day today - it keeps raining and it's supposed to be getting worse.
Still, it was a chance to do houseworky types of things, so we're all neat and tidy for a while. I got all the washing dried on the line yesterday, so that's up to date too.
A couple of days ago we ventured to Bluewater. We were going to use Mr Goldie's John Lewis voucher for free coffee and cake, but it was nowhere to be found. However, I had enough free points on my Costa card, so free coffee was enjoyed after all.
I bought my hair conditioner from Lush, which lasts ages. Plus an M&S table cloth - our current table clothes are at least 20 years old, so we are beginning to replace them. I was able to use a £10 voucher to help towards the cost. Also, a couple of oddments from Lakeland which will be useful
I think tomorrow afternoon will be better weatherwise. I hope so, after the recent run of good weather I feel cooped up todayEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Another one cooped up! The *really* bad weather arrived here about half an hour ago - tho its been horrible all day. I haven't used the time to do any housework
as I'm allergic
but I *have* made a few phone calls I've been putting off, and managed I *think* to sort out the user names and passwords on the new hosting situation. I've definitely done a cat blog post :j

Housework is not so bad on a rainy day as it is in the sunshine. Well done for using your time productively!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Yesterday was another one of those rainy days, and I'm not sure it was spent productively, but it did clarify something in my mind.
One of the ideas we've had for our future is that we may, at some point, downsize our house.
As we were cooped up again we got to talking about it, and did a little research on the net.
Mr Goldie likes the idea of a bungalow in a seaside town. I'm not adverse to this, but I'd also consider a character cottage, in a seaside area, or in a village location. A nice sized flat garden would also be good ( our garden is not very big and slopes upward)
As the idea is to free up capital, we started looking at properties up for sale at appox £70,000 less than we think our house is worth.
There are properties available, and some have nice outside spaces........ but none of the interiors grabbed me - there was always 'something' I didn't like. I tried to look beyond the decorations( some of which was IMO, hideous), but things like the kitchen and bathrooms were more difficult to ignore, as we'd have to live with that for some time.
By the time we'd paid the moving fees, and got the place to our liking, we'd probably eat up a lot of that £70K !
It just made me realise why we've stayed here for 26 years, and made me appreciate our house a lot more.
Overall, I would like to stay here for as long as possible..... Mr Goldie still seems a bit keener on the idea, but he does accept it'd have to be a really special property for us genuinely to want to move.
Hopefully, if I don't bring the subject up again, he'll just forget all about it! :rotfl:Early retired - 18th December 2014
