It's weird when that happens, and I didn't see your earlier post until just now

I definitely agree with limiting finance and life admin in general - I seem to spend a ridiculous amount of time faffing around with stuff on the internet. Not to mention when I have to phone anywhere, it takes long enough to get through the security questions, let alone get the answer that you need.

I think I'd set my limit to about 60 minutes a day - that must be enough. My affairs aren't THAT complicated ! :rotfl:

I can't help wondering if we're getting all our post. We seem to have so many responses outstanding from banks etc. I'm getting increasingly frustrated that I can't mark things as 'done'.

I think a jigsaw is calling me now - that'll take my mind off my lists:rotfl:

    Hope the Jigsaw worked.
This forum is odd, new style until you log in ??? That's what happened to me today too.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Yes, the jigsaw was very absorbing, I'm going to do some more a bit later.

On the financial front, still haven't had any letters that I've been waiting for.

So I took things into my own hands.

TSB & Santander - all sorted, as I have a confirmation letter for gross interest

Nationwide, I'm not too bothered about, as I can check the interest at the month end

Sainsburys, I logged on to online banking, and was able to see confirmation that interest is gross.

Halifax - tried looking in online banking - it gives the gross interest rate (but it has always shown this), so there is nothing to confirm the accounts are actually getting gross interest. Therefore, endured a tortuous phone call - they confirmed all my accounts have been registered for gross interest, but can't explain why I haven't received lettered for all the accounts. Then put Mr Goldie on the line, and he had to endure tortuous call - turns out most of his accounts registered, expect two, which she did while he was on the phone. Will wait a bit longer for letters, otherwise I'll write for proper confirmation. Not saying I don't trust what I've been told, but I prefer to actually be able to see confirmation with my own eyes.

I've renewed our ISA's with the Halifax. We've both gone on to the 18 month fixed rate of 1.6% Not brilliant, but in 18 months time maybe the interest rates will have risen a bit.

I've requested my first ever Quidco payment of £12.39, to be paid to my Paypal account.

That's it for today, I'm doing no more!

I've got lamb and lentil casserole in the slow cooker, first time I've tried the recipe.

Am glad I am still working. Suddenly retirement seems exhausting :)

When I have days like yesterday, it's how I envisaged retirement to be, going out for days and generally enjoying things.

I think I will have to go out every day, as days at home seem to be trying at the moment - it's probably my own fault, but I've got myself bogged down in admin again.

It's the Halifax that are causing the aggro.

Mr Goldie looked at his online banking this morning and noticed he had messages in his inbox. When he looked they were copies of the letters he'd already received about his R85's, plus a further two dated 21st April, which were the ones they did for him over the phone.

So I look in my Inbox - I only have two letters, copies of the ones I've already received - there were no letters about my other 7 accounts!

So I rang up again, again they confirmed my accounts were registered, but couldn't explain why no letters were produced. I was put through to another department, and I asked for confirmation letters to be issued, but they can't do this now. If I wanted to I could go into the local branch and ask them to type me a letter! I don't think so - I'm not having all that inconvenience!

So in the end I've typed up a two page complaint letter. It should be a simple thing to register an account and get a confirmation letter, but the Halifax don't seem to be able to manage this!

In better news, my Quidco payment of £12.39 and we got letters from Tesco Bank with our paperwork. We've had to sign a form and send it back, so it looks like everything is progressing well.

But I've spent most of the afternoon messing around with the Halifax thing - it really shouldn't need so much effort!

Tesco bank have accepted me - hooray:j

I've been having a rummage in the loft and have brought down a few small things for eBaying.

The only things that are left to sift through are larger items, which I'll have to eBay one at a time, or we'll take to the tip.

Four eBay sales this weekend, so that's ticking along nicely

Excellent! I have a bag of "stuff" that could be ebayed - stamps I bought at Cape Canaveral, Felix cat food collars, all sorts of other stuff I haven't even looked at .... when are you going to list, Goldie? Tell me, so you can hold my hand :D this stuff is all new, I'm sure there's some money in it somewhere!

Cat collars would go well on ebay.

eBay never ceases to amaze me. I've got a lovely corduroy jacket that's too small for me. I've had it listed for several auctions, not one bid. I listed it for buy it now when I came back from my holiday, no interest at all. The listing was due to finish tomorrow and it was going in the charity bag. But it sold this evening!

KC, my hand is here should you need it. As Al says, I'm sure cat collars would do well, and the stamps. What I tend to do is do an 'advanced' search, and see what similar things have sold for, so see if there's a market for what I want to sell, and the sort of prices that it sells for. Also, it's a good way to research the best way to describe your item.

I've sold some weird things over the years - I think you'll be surprised at how well some things sell

All the eBaying is paying off, my cupboards are looking much neater now. There's still work to be done, but I am getting there:)
