It is about bailiffs enforcing unpaid LA parking tickets . Riff raff chasing riff raff. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

This is about council tickets, and the bailiffs tried a high court injunction to stop broadcast, I wonder why ?

I wondered that too, also some private companies enforce these LA tickets , we also have that bailiff running the sc*m I read about (proserve) so I am sure there is something for all in this
but if some people dont want to watch it, nobody is forcing them to0 -
Bailiff Laws changed yesterday, so I suspect a lot of this programme is about how the new laws will work.
Anyone owing money will be served an Enforcement Order and additional notices have to be served notifying the debtor when goods will actually be removed.0 -
Just popped by to see if this had been highlighted, caught the reference at the end of the one show, one for catch up I think...0

no mention of private parking tickets , but plenty of info about bailiffs and their dubious methods (JBW contractors for one) , also info and interviews with notomob members , info on newlyns and equita too , with creative accounting racking up charges , eric pickles etc having no plans to regulate the industry properly
so definitely topics that interest this forum, which is named Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking
as mentioned above in another post, this is a response to the fact new bailiff rules have come into force which was mentioned too

It surely is not rocket science, if you are a mini cab driver, and you will not pay your parking tickets , that you acquaint yourself with what goods and chattels are exempt from seizure.
And as for the fool of a swan ambulance driver, he deserves all he gets imo.
If you act stupidly and defy the law expect bad things to happen to you.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

While I broadly agree with this sentiment, surely it's the unreasonable and inflated charges that are the main issue here. If you have a lawful fine and don't pay, then it costs to recover it - understood. What is not right are fees for attending when you didn't, fees for removal vehicles when you haven't used such a vehicle and taking things from people who have nothing to do with the debt.
This doesn't even begin to deal with people who thought the fine was resolved, where the fine is still in dispute or with a person totally unconnected to the debtor.
This is the same story as with the clamping thieves, who intimidated people, charged for tow trucks that were not used and the police who failed to do anything when a crime (extortion threats) was committed.
I don't mind paying parking fees, I would be angry if a LA fined me fairly for parking incorrectly, but I would pay it if it was fairly given. I pay parking fees in private car parks. But the issue is the same: when fees or "fines" are racketed up by unscrupulous people, then there is a sense of injustice. And where process is hidden or manipulated to intimidate people then stronger controls need to be put in place.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.0 -
Yes the fees are high, yes many of the bailiffs are scum, but I do not think it can be compared with clamping.
People would return to their cars to find them clamped, having committed no offence. In the case of non payment of parking fines and council tax or a TV license they would probably have had many months to put things right. They would have had many letters, been taken to court and served with orders.
The woman whose car they took could have prevented it had she been aware of her rights and stood up for them.
I am sorry, but I cannot feel too much pity for these people,You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

You clearly didn't pay much attention to the show then !
How exactly was it legal for the bailiff to take his wife's car ? Or how come all but one London Council accepted that he was entitled to drive in the bus lanes ?
No - the show highlighted corruption across the board when it comes to parking.
From the local authorities, to the bailiffs, to the police right up to government. Where big money is involved you'll always find pigs and criminals at the trough.
The bailiff companies had little response to the show ( other than court action to try and get it banned - can't think why ! ), the council that hired and suspended JDW then re-hired them and Eric Pickles downright lied about the MoJ looking at the issue of regulation.
The only people to come out of the show with credit were the victims and the No2Mob ( and we know what the corrupt Nick Lester thinks of them ! )."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0
