?....you seem to decry ever suggestion made....

No, not ever idea. Just the stupid ones. And ever idea on that show would easily fall into that catagory.

"Don't use expensive shower gel, (because 99p is extortionate!). No, next time you need a wash, rub a fish finger all over your body and then get your cat to lick your entire body clean."

"Ta-da! Super clean, super frugal, super scrimpers...and proud!"

    :)

DON'T waste money on expensive iPods. Simply think of your favourite tune and hum it. If you want to "switch tracks", simply think of another song you like and hum that instead.

Make shoes last twice as long by hopping to work on your left foot, then hopping home on your right.

Avoid getting prosecuted for using your phone while driving. Simply pop your mobile inside a large shell and the police will think you are listening to the sea!

You can also save buying expensive binoculars simply by standing closer to the things you want to look at.

    VINEGAR!?

You sound like one of those nutters on Super Scrimpers! "Don't waste money on soap or shower gel. Simply pick up a handful of leaves and pinecones and leave your body feeling fresh, rejuvenated and totally removed of all your skin!"

"Don't waste money on expensive shaving foam and razors. Just get some petrol, douse it on your face, and light it with a match!"

Surely your clothes will stink. And does the acid content in vinegar not damage your garments, or fade the colours?

That's the funniest thing I have seen in a while, thank you :rotfl::rotfl:

Love it Geordie! That's the Super Scrimper in you coming up with totally awesome and incredibly sensible money saving ideas. You should be proud, like Ilona.

That show was just awful. I don't think a single person watching it ever used any of the money saving ideas the 'experts' put forward to the nation.

I agree with this. Everyone in work now knows that I've turned my finances around and gone from debt to credit. Some of them have asked how I did it and if I can help them do the same. I'm sure that some people, though, would have seen this show and assumed I now wear underpants made out of old Sun newspapers and stay away from me.

We've got a big-screen TV at work and I cringe whenever this show comes on. A small percentage of it is useful but it's mostly awful and perpetuates the "stingy" myth. A small part of me dies inside whenever I see it and I wonder how many people it's put off sorting their money problems out because they don't want to become one of them. Terrible, terrible show - banish it to Room 101 I say.

Conversely, The Martin Lewis Money Show was fantastic and nothing but helpful, informative and inspiring.

I know this was posted a couple of days ago but I've had a long day at work today and this has had me in stitches, I was nearly in tears with laughter because of this and the pinecone "tip". Thank you :):)

Dude, if you want a proper laugh, watch Super Scrimpers. You can then join in with the ribbing.

And speaking of ribs. Instead of buying expensive 'ribbed' condoms, buy regular ones and pour some frozen peas in.

    Air Cooled 75, you've got to tell me if it's a Type 1 or Type 2. I've '67 Type 1, and a '66 Type 3, a Razor Edge! ;)

    Lovely :)

My little fella is a Type 1 but he's been a bit neglected since I had a human little fella :( I come home to all kinds of notes on the front door and random people knocking on the door asking if I want to sell but I don't :) my dad is retiring soon so I'm *hoping* he'll do some work on it. A 'tomato' 1975 so and end of the run really but the only thing I've had changed is the brakes.

Broke down on a level crossing once :) ah, the fun!

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back :)

Hubby would love a type 2 which is odd as he moans about my car all the time :)

    Got to love 'em :)

I sold my Type 2, a '66 Splitty, to fund the quest for a Razor Edge. Should have kept it really as the prices spiraled soon after and now I can't afford to get another one.

And there was one time we were bombing down the motorway and were shocked to find we were being overtaken by a bouncing wheel! Then the back corner dropped down, lots of grinding and sparks, and we realised it was OUR wheel!
Found it though, stuck it back on and carried on.

Got hundreds of daft stories involving dubs. They're a pain, but they're AWESOME!
