Water damage on contract no insurance
Hi everyone. I am currently 13 months into a 24 month contract with Orange for my Galaxy s4, without having any insurance. this morning my phone accidentally got knocked into the bath by my cat! My phone now has significant water damage and nothing appears on the screen. My early upgrade date isn't until December. Unfortunately I don't earn enough money to buy a decent new phone and use the sim card from my s3. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas or advice regarding my current options, if there are any.
Thanks for reading.

Buy a cheap phone and wait until upgrade time.
Next time either take more care or get insurance. Although after reading all the issue people have making claims i dont bother insuring my phone.
If i break it then i use my old one or just get something ultra cheap until i can afford to get a new one.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You could try taking it to a local repair shop (Sanbei, if there's one near you) and see what the damage is.0

You could give this a try

Put it somewhere warm for some days (with some rice is sometimes suggested) and try again.
Do you have home contents insurance ? This might cover it although often the excess makes claiming pointless.
Get a cheap phone in Carphone Warehouse on PAYG. Although not Android the cheap Nokia Lumias are good for the money.0 -
What was your cat doing texting in the bath anyway......0

Think about the money you saved by not having insurance....let's say £10 per month. The excess would have been £50 so you have saved £180 by not having and not claiming on your insurance. You can get a reasonable cheap smartphone for much less than that. Just save some money and buy one.
I would only ever take out insurance for the first 12 months anyway while the value of the phone is still very high then cancel it and hope it lasts the remaining 12 months.
You could pick up a second hand s3 for not very much from Ebay.
Do not claim on someone else's insurance as suggested by robti earlier you will (in all probability) be done for fraud and you will never be able to take out another contract...for a very long time. Your credit rating will be destroyed and mortgages and credit cards will also be declined. Car and home insurance will also be declined. Not having car insurance means you can't drive.
You can usually do an upgrade with your current network with 6 months remaining on the contract so you only have a few months to go before that option is available to you.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

why take your phone near the bath, you would void your warrant anyway due to moisture. People can wait an hour for a reply and sure facebook canDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. I will definitely give reviveaphone a try after looking at the website and seeing all the reviews.0

Waste of money I think.
Hopefully they are serious about the money back guarantee.0
