hi everyone thought i would let you know i have fixed the problem by unplugging my phone sockets and following the instructions listed here http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php
I disconnected the bell wire as it said to do and overnight my speed shot up from 420 kb to over 6500 kb after i rebooted my home hub.
you only ned to have the wires in your phone socket connected to numbers 2 and 5 and do not need a bell wire connected as the adsl filters do the job of the bell wire and my phones still ring.
I now have no noise on my line and my speed is better than it has been for the last fortnight.
Give it a go you have nothing to lose it worked for me any way0
