Okay, maybe everyone can stop bickering now and actually try and HELP the OP with her original question

I would say it's sounds like you're doing everything right. You obviously learned from the 'work letter' incident that (if it was her) she's going to play nasty so fromnow on you should do everything by the book.

Keep track of absolutely everything you buy regarding the kittens and they're health and keep reciepts. It might also be worth asking whether your vet would be willing to write a statement words to the effect of what he told you when he diagnosed them.

I would definitely report her to the RSPCA and any other animal welfare body it will only go to show you are serious and if nothing comes of it it will be an inconvenience for her.

Do you have a local paper where you are too? They might not be in the slightest bit interested in doing a story, but telling her that you are going to 'out' her to the local paper as a dirty animal cruelty fiend may persuade her to offer you some kind of compensation!

Whether it is a good idea to buy pets privately or not, the fact of the matter is that these kittens are now in the care of someone who is caring for them properly and giving them the love and attention that they deserve and obviously were not getting elsewhere.

Good luck and I hope they (and you) get better soon x

I can sympathise with the OP.

We once bought 2 cats from a rescue centre assuming we would get healthy cats.

However in the first month or so we ended up paying out over £200 because both cats had some sort of viral infection.

If moneysavingexpert had been about then they would have got more than just an angry phone call from our vets!:rotfl:

    Hi Dani,

I hope all is well with you and the girls. My little ones are much better now -the runny tummy has calmed down considerably and they're now back to climbing up the curtains and destroying my furniture :D

I'd just like to say I am so sorry for hijacking the thread to bicker. I feel pretty ashamed of myself for it. When I clicked the link you had left in my post and saw that the same person had also been nasty to you I just saw red, and in responding and getting caught up in a petty disagreement I didn't even offer any advice, so I am sorry - I just felt empathy and was incensed for myself and on your behalf!

Please keep me posted on how you get on, and I hope you and your partner are feeling much better.

I see Shambler bought kittens from a resuce centre and they too were poorly...just goes to show hey? ;)

I suppose the main thing to consider is the stress implications of taking it to court. I would feel very strongly about the situation in your case but is the time and money you are likely to invest going to justify the result? Even if you get your money back and costs you may just end up frazzled from the whole thing.

Also - did the RSPCA let you know if they had followed up your complaint?

Whatever you decide, I wish you, your partner and your kittens all the best, and also congratualtions on your wedding!

My partner and I also work in the same place and are getting married soon (September) so the kittens are not the only thing we have that's similar! How strange...

    Take care,

    Crystal

Nasty? Who was nasty? How can anyone expressing their opinion be nasty?

Did you have to write that or were you hoping for a reaction from me? You know full well that i'm going to stick up for myself, and if you hadn't of wrote that i would have thanked you for your post

To the OP - I am glad to hear that the kittys are on the mend , how awful for them and for you that they had something like ringworm. Did the seller have other animals for sale? If it is a sideline she is doing and not an official "business" maybe the Inland Revenue might be interested in her ? Not saying that you should do anything about it, but she thought it was ok to stitch you up with your boss so maybe just maybe ..........

Oooooo Lady E you sneak thing you!! ;)

She had four cats (3 females and 1 male) they were hers. The male got a little bit happy and went round each girl in turn turning out 3 litters of about 5 cats each so she had a far few!!!!
