Am I going the right way about this?

A month ago I purchased two kittens. I had been visiting them for 5 weeks prior to this. On the Thursday night before I purchased them, I noticed one of the kittens had a bald spot on her head and the seller said that she would take it to the vets the next day.
I collected the kittens on the Sunday and it was MUCH worse, poor little thing had hardly any fur between her ears. Seller said that she had been diagnosed with Ezcema and to put "vaseline" on it (weird I know). HAd no reason not to believe her as she said it had been to the vets, took the girls home. They scratched themselves silly all through the night and in the morning they had actually made themselves bleed. I rushed them to the vets on the Monday morning and the girls got diagnosed with Ringworm.
My vet said that a) you do not put vaseline on Ezcema and a vet would not advise this at all and b) you couldn't confuse Ezcema and Ringworm as they are very different. My vet said that she highly doubted that these kittens had seen a vet in the first place.
I tried to resolve this matter nicely and amicably. All I wanted was the £80 I had paid for the kittens. I was quite happy to pay the vetinary bills but as she had sold me kittens that were poorly and in distress, I wanted my money back.
Nothing got resolved so I contacted Consumer Direct who advised me to write her a letter advising that I wanted to claim the vets bills back (as apparantly I could not claim the cost of the kittens back as I would have to return them, which I wasnt willing to do) as consiquential loss.
This was two weeks ago and yesterday I received a letter from her stating that she definately would not refund any money to me at all so I could take it further but she wouldnt be responding.
Earlier in the day, my boss contacted me and said that someone had a vendetta against either myself or my partner (he works in the same place) as he had recieved a letter saying that someone who worked for the company was abusing the mailing system. It had my address on the letter. My company allows you to use the franking machine for postage aslong as you reconcile the costs with the company. So I obtained the envelope it arrived it and low and behold it matches the writing/envelope type of the letter I received also.
I contacted Consumer Direct again this morning and they have passed this complaint on to Trading Standards who are going to contact me. They also advised me to contact the RSPCA which I have done.
Is there anything else I should be doing? Any help would be grately appreciated.
P.S. What I also forgot to mention is that I caught the Ringworm off my kittens and had to have a week off sick last week and over the weekend my partner got it too!!!

Why on earth did you take the kittens when you saw the bald patch? You should only purchase a healthy kitten and if you suspected that the kittens weren't right you should have refused and walked away, i'm sorry but it's your own fault. Why do people not think about the cats/kittens who desperately need homes in shelters instead of buying from people you don't know

Kimberley - you don't seem to have a good word to say to anyone. Did your mother never tell you if you don't have anything nice to say to not say anything at all?0

Posting topics like this on this site will attract criticism and other peoples opinions and by expression my views about this is my opinion. Do you follow me around this board? Then i'd appreciate it if you can read my 4,000+ postings and you will see that i'm not always negative towards people.
If they don't like it then don't post a topic where people will criticise.0 -
My point is this Kimberley - you have offered fairly irrelevant advice to us both. We both already have the kittens which may not be from your choice of source, and neither of us have chosen to give the kittens back or to the CPL/RSPCA and have instead chosen to bear the costs involved in getting to them well as we love the animals. Surely such actions should not justify such rudeness from you as we have not done things your way. The site is called MONEYSAVINGEXPERT and focuses on financial aspects and consumer rights as I am sure you are well aware and both of us have come into posession of animals that have incurred money and consumer related topics. Your response was neither helpful and relevant, just critical and nasty and whether or not you are that way all the time neither of us know, what we do know is that you have on two occasions formulated 2 unhelpful and critical responses that really, weren't necessary.
That said, I see your 4 stars and the fact that you've been thanked lots, so you can't be all bad, and I wish you well.0 -
Oh in relation to me 'following you around' I have better things to do and was directed to this post by the OP as you will see from my thread. It just so happened that you'd been here voicing your irrelvant and rude opinions too.

I have not been nasty, expressing my worry and concern and how i feel about a subject is my right and as i said before, no one can criticise a members topic if it's not posted and by posting it up, on a forum like this you will get people who are judgemental.0 -

Why are you posting remarks like these if you want me to stop expressing my opinions :rolleyes:0 -
I know...I hate myself for replying but you've really riled me. What I find laudable about the whole situation is that you seem to be saying you care about animals, yet you're saying because these animals were sick we should have gone elsewhere and got healthy ones...and what exactly? Left the sick ones to die, or be put down? It just makes no sense to me that's all.
When people post on this site looking for advice they are asking what they should do now not what they should have done in the first place. That's the thing about the internet really isn't it...people feel they can talk to people however they choose as they are anonymous. I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who give critical rather than helpful responses to strnagers on this site would never do so face to face. it just bothers me that someone who has been using this site for as long as you have flouts the etiquette so willingly. Sad really...and maybe sadder that it bothers me so much lol
Anyway we're two grown adults, so sorry for acting like a 5 year old; the main thing all 4 kittens (who may have otherwise been put down) are in loving homes and on the mend.

Buying ill kittens in a pet shop is silly beyond belief and as for you saying if you don't they would get put down, that is utter tosh, they will get sold no matter who wants them because there are always people out there who are daft enough to and if you do see an animal in a pet shop that looks ill then you phone the RSPCA up :rolleyes:0 -
I seriously think you need to grow up, and if you are not offensive I don't know who is.
Think about it Kimberley...if you're really worried that the RSPCA are full to capacity, isn't it better that the likes of me and Dani take the kittens home and get them well than for them to have to take them in, treat them and then try and rehome them? If you have an opinion at least make it a worthwile and well though out one that actually makes sense eh?0
