The main problem with buying sick animals from pet shops/breeders, even with the intent of "saving" them, is that you are helping to perpetuate the sale of even more sick animals!
As long as these people know they can still make money, regardless of the health/condition of their animals, they will continue to do so and, as has been said, there will always be someone who will come along and think they are doing the right thing (by the animal that is).
If people simply refused to buy these animals then there would no longer be a market for them
“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Now that makes sense...and I hadn't really seen it that way...:(
I have told the pet shop and warned them that if I see a sick animal in the shop again I will report them. It is a huge fisheries and I've been going there since I was a kid and never noticed the animals there looking unwell before, which is why I was happy to buy from them.
I see your point, and I'm just glad the kittens will be OK.0 -
I seriously think you need to grow up, and if you are not offensive I don't know who is.
Think about it Kimberley...if you're really worried that the RSPCA are full to capacity, isn't it better that the likes of me and Dani take the kittens home and get them well than for them to have to take them in, treat them and then try and rehome them? If you have an opinion at least make it a worthwile and well though out one that actually makes sense eh?
Me grow up  I think i talk sense, all i was refering to was how silly it is to buy a sick pet from a pet shop. My posts are well thought out by the way

I saw 13 replies and thought I had had lots of advice. Didnt realise World War 3 had kicked off!! Yes she had a bald patch, but I was advised this was Ezcema. That did not bother me in the slightest as I know you get flare ups etc as I have it myself. I had been visiting the cats for weeks and loved them to bits so was not going to break my own heart by stopping the sale because they "apparantly" had eczema. At the end of day I provided a loving home for two kittens. Thats all I have to say in regard to that matter.
Also I do think your very harsh for saying its my own fault for this full business because I took them home even though she had a bald patch. What you dont seem to realise is that I was advised that HER vet had seen them and they only had eczema, eczema is treatable and I was willing to treat them so why shouldnt I have took them home. I hardly doubt her lying to me and causing the kittens distress by not actually taking them to see a vet, them contracting ringworm, myself and my partner catching it - being my fault thanks.:xmastree: :snow_laug Christmas Nutter :snow_laug:xmastree:0 -
wouldn't it be a false description as well as animal cruelty if she did not take them to the vet if she said that she had done?
if i were you i would be claiming YOUR costs as well as she's lied to you & you & your other half have been ill & suffered as a resultnothing to see here, move along...0 -

I'm not being harsh but it's common sense to know you don't buy a pet that looks ill and if you do then it is your fault if all goes wrong  You wouldn't buy an apple that was bruised would you? No you wouldn't, you'd buy one that looked healthy.0 -
Eczema does affect their health as such, it just makes them uncomfortable. As I previously stated, I did not mind treating them for Ezcema. Its something that unfortuantely cant be helped!
On a seperate note, I love your avatar lol:xmastree: :snow_laug Christmas Nutter :snow_laug:xmastree:0 -

Dani85 - where did you buy the kittens? Shop, registered breeder or what?
Getting your money back will greatly depend on where you got the kittens.
Shop - complain and small claims court.
Breeder - complain direct and also to FAB and small claims court
Court may be hassle to you but may well stop future sale of ill animals. Also, court action may stop any further malicious activity (ie contacting your work). However, if you write to the sellers again and they respond maliciously I'd be tempted to have a social chat with the police.
Absolute definate is to make the RSPCA aware of the issue.
Hopefully, your new babes will make a full recovery.
If you intend sharing your life with any animals in future please post here during the consideration period as they'll be plenty of advice offered.
All the best.0
