I now I have both statements.

So I though I would go and visit RBS as I have current account with them. Not offering the best rate with their ISAs but because the extra £5 situation I thought It would be easier as they could just put the £5 in my current account.

Apparently you need to make an appointment more than a week in advance to open an account...

I was sort of lucky when I got into my local Nationwide Branch today as apparently somebody else had been in with an FSCS cheque for an EBCU ISA earlier. So I didn't have to explain what I wanted but that was all of the good news.

I spent close to an hour in the Branch and they were on the phone to some Hed Office person most of the time. They then concluded that they should take photocopies of my cheque etc and they will be sending this to the Head Office.

They also told me that they (in Head Office) had contacted HMRC and HMRC knew nothing about the matter. This is, of course, in direct contradiction to what the Administrators have told us in writing. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so serious.

I know that we will get our money into ISAs eventually but the process is farcical, and the effort each of us has to put into this is ridiculous.

A little more information with the ongoing saga.

I spoke to the FSCS and they advised me that prior to 2012 they used to issue a certificate to be given to new ISA provider in cases like ours, but this(as we know to our cost) has changed.

He did say though that the present system should not cause the problems that we are having.

He did however tell me about a HMRC guide issued to ISA managers on 7 September 2012 I looked this up and it covers exactly the position we are in so how the HQs of banks where the ISA managers are presumably located don't know about it, is puzzling.

I am relatively new to providing links etc, but if you google Reinstatement of ISAs you will find the PDFs document, perhaps we should print it and take it with us when next we visit a branch.

    Hi everyone,

From reading previous replies I'm sure this will be the least of my problems, but does anyone know what Dotcom's sort code is for use with ISA transfer authority forms?

    Thanks!

As far as I am aware you cannot use traditional transfer forms now they have defaulted. You have to wait for the FSCS cheque to come through.

Thanks Gizmo, reading the instructions it looks like you're right. I'll print off the isa-reinstatement.pdf and reserve myself a good 90 minute lunch break to sort this out at HSBC :)

I have some good progress to report. I had raised a complaint with Nationwide yesterday and they rang back first thing this morning to say they need an ISA application form and my original FSCS cheque from me, and they'd credit my new ISA with effect from yesterday. Fastest way would be to do this in Branch. They rang ahead to advise the Branch and much to my amazement it was all done in less than 10 minutes. I have a receipt for the cheque, and obviously I also had taken a copy of it.

I don't know whether this means all Nationwide Branches are now on the same page as the rest of us, but if they are not, I would recommend you raise a complaint like I did.

If you complain, make sure you get a complaint reference number - they initially tried to fob me off by saying they are the Call Centre complaints team and my complaint was for their ISA team who use a different system. I pointed out that the internal workings of Nationwide were none of my concern and she eventually caved in and gave me a reference number.

Good luck, and keep insisting on your rights.

Well I've cashed my cheque but got a photocopy before I did so ... hopefully that will be good enough, especially as I followed FSCS instructions.
