What abuse have you faced here ?

None as far as I can see, I see the comment about a rabbit and nothing else, maybe its not to your taste but nothing more.

what was wrong about the rabbit comment then? i genuinely had some frozen rabbit i could of sent her or fish or phesant.

personally i think a screwdriver would of been more appropriate after reading the rest of this thread :)

I didn't read any offence in your post about the rabbit. My mum (now 70) was born and raised in a tiny village on the edge of Dartmoor - if it hadn't been for rabbits during the harsh winters then she and her family would often have gone hungry. It was a nice offer you made.

Perhaps the tawdry-minded (like me ;) ) might have seen the word "rabbit" and thought you were offering her an "intimate pleasure-toy"... but it seemed clear to me that you were offering a suggestion as to her food problems.

One of my parents' neighbours (in Hampshire) regularly dines finely off road-kill pheasants and other game birds - not sure I'd risk that personally - but she is by no means the only person I know that furnishes her table for free like this.

If you have access to a library, you should have access to a local church and/or charity that will help people with food. Also, if you have 50p and nothing to eat, you should really be using the 50p to buy food, not Internet access.

Also, have you asked in the library what support could be available locally for you?

As an aside, which library are you using that charges you for Internet access?

I know Nottingham City libraries charge you for internet use if you want to have more than your 60 minutes of free internet usage a week!

I am afraid that this is an open forum and you cannot dictate what people write or how they respond. DCFC79, as you can probably tell from his/her stats in the left side-bar is a long-standing and helpful member - if they weren't they'd have been found out and booted off the site a long time ago.

    What about Opinions4u?

I remember when I first left home I had 6 pounds a week for food. Although this was 1980, it was a ridiculously small amount of money even then. I lived on beanfeast and rice.., every night. I couldn't even look at one of them now, but it kept me full.

Since then, I have had kids, and on occasions buying food for me has been very difficult.., ,obviously the kids come first. And there have been times when I have lived on toast and jam for week after week. And I am a diabetic, so had to keep blood sugars to a reasonable level. Bread costs 55p from a cheap place, its not the best but it fills you up. Noodles are cheap and flavoursome, they won't give you much in the way of nutrients but as a short term solution for a few days they will help. See if your neighbours have any frozen veg they can spare, even a cup ful to add to it (I've done this too).

To be honest, I always keep bread and noodles in my store cupboard just in case.

It is hard, it makes a person angry but don't let the anger sway you from figuring out how to get through this period. You need to focus everything you have on this, Santander will have to wait as it will take time to sort out.

I budget food buys very aggressively, bills tend to stay the same (although with care I have managed to reduce my electricity useage over the last three months quite a bit as the price for that is now too high for me to afford at the rate I was paying out), its the only thing I can adjust in an emergency.

I found that I was initially paying a higher amount out on electricity and gas as the LL had a key meter put in. I found a company that would let me have a credit meter, went for a fixed rate and that saved me money each and every week (til the fixed rate ended as it will this month but see above how I got over that).

I've started working as a volunteer at a charity shop.., so I can even get a discount on second hand clothes! We often have disabled volunteers. Think about what you can do, not what you can't. I didn't even mention my back problems to them but they must have noticed so now I get a chair whenever i need to do something which was incredibly kind of them. I have heart problems and asthma but I get through a lot of things with sheer determination.

For every day you make a bank wait, they will add charges, and charges on charges, unless you have been able to negotiate a repayment plan with them. Not talking to the bank is madness.

Having dealt with the ombudsman numerous times for numerous people, things just don't happen this fast.

I'd like to see charges capped at the actual amount owed, but it doesn't detract from the fact that the bank are contractually allowed to charge someone from being overdrawn.

IIRC, HSBC are the only ones that don't charge more than the actual amount borrowed on an unauthorised transaction, but HSBC also have one of the worst current accounts out there from a Moneysaving perspective. I use one for the perfect customer service, but also keep accounts elsewhere for other things (Santander 123 for bills etc), as it's more moneysaving.
