Nationwide flexdirect 50p overdraft charge

These unarranged overdraft fees appeared on my account last month too, and showed they were immediately refunded. I rang to check what the hell was going on and they said don't worry it was a mistake. However I can't now up my overdraft as their mistake (one of many over the last couple of years) has cost my internal score with them. Can't wait to get away from them altogether!0

Cheers for the replies at least I know its not personal!!0

Another charge this month - on a different C/A.
Crikey NW are just the pits!!0 -
I got another email this week saying I had charges on my accounts for overdrawing. The in credit account had been credited with 50p to offset but nothing had happened with the ones with zero in them. Contacted them via internal messages and they rang me next day telling not to worry that I had received the email because of the debit and credit. They also sent me out a bundle of freepost envelopes so I can send them the forms to close the accounts with zero in them.
Low and behold I got another email today saying I had charges on my account."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0 -
They really do need to get their act together over this, this is now a severe embarrassment for them. Or at least it should be.0

However, and looking on the bright side, at £25 a time, complaining will probably get you more than you made in interest over the last 12 months.

I only got freepost envelopes"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

I'll be escalating this one to the ombudsman.
NW arent in control of their systems.
The small cost is largely irrelevant - but could eventually have impact on credit scores.
I've spent hours on this.0 -
Did you raise a formal complaint? What was Nationwide's formal answer? You can't go to the ombudsman before you have a final answer from Nationwide, or 8 weeks are up since your complaint.veryintrigued wrote: »I'll be escalating this one to the ombudsman.

As to impact on credit score: I haven't seen them reporting a default for me - perhaps because I have never been overdrawn, despite those silly unarranged overdraft charges.
However, I have noticed today that I no longer have any Nationwide offers. Perhaps my internal credit score with them is shot to pieces because of their errors? Can you still see any personal offers?0 -
PS I suspect that the problem somewhere resides in poor coding that seems to think that if you cream the montly interest off after its paid on the last day (around 21:00hrs) i.e. before the first day of the month at 00:00hrs that a couple of months later (maybe of inactivity) this 'overdraft' charge is initiated.0
