Can Bing Ads do this?

Actually if it is in their terms and conditions that the only way someone can fully delete their account is via a phone call then it probably is illegal for them to break those terms and conditions (that both parties have signed up to)

So my answer would be 'yes bing are correct'

Bet that doesn't help though, but as someone else has said 'it's only a phone call'

No - probably not so I wholeheartedly apologise

The post is however honest - what exactly are you trying to achieve here that a simple phone call to them won't solve ? They may have played fast & loose with the 'law' word but thta's not going to get you out of playing by their rules

I think I may have found a way around it.

Apparently you can now link your bing ads account to a Hotmail account. You can then close the Hotmail account and everything will be deleted.

Interesting to note that closing a free Hotmail account requires no phonecall but closing a paid advertising account does.

As for why my mum doesn't want to phone. That isn't even my business. I would be happy to phone but she isn't.

The trolling on this site is unbelievable. To be honest, I don't think I will post here any more.

Read this thread back and ask yourself why anyone would bother posting a question here.

Because one is free and one is a paid for, contracted service. So the service providers are checking that the ads they are about to take down should, indeed, be taken down. Because if Bing takes down the ads and then your mum kicks up a fuss because they have broken their agreement with her because it was not, in fact, her who contacted them to close the account they will be in breach of contract and liable for costs.

On a side note - do you actually know what a troll is? If not, then you're probably best to leave the forum as you suggest. FWIW a troll is not someone who disagrees with another poster.

Everyone is forgetting the 1 most important thing here, this is a B2B transaction so consumer law doesn't apply here, not that it matters because they can insist on a phone call anyway.

But the main point is the T&C's of the account are what matters so if it's a phone call then there is no way round it unless they allow it. You don't get to choose.

Are you sure that will completely delete the Bing Ads account? And not deactivate it, or simply break the link?

Probably a very very good idea. This section is for consumer rights and not B2B problems.

Many of the posters in here that have been called trolls post useful advice day in and day out in this forum. Not the best way to get advice imho....

  • This is just so petty. It can't be the only thing the op is like this with in life. Makes you wonder what people like this are trying to achieve.
