Hi. Since the demise of ovivo I decided to buy a mi fi so I could use my iPhone and iPad when I go away and don't have access to my broadband. I've had it on charge and put a Sainsburys data sim in it but I can't seem to connect it so these devices recognise it. Can anyone offer and simple instructions for me please. I have tried to google it but have n t got anywhere. Do I need to do anything to the sim first or not.? Thank you

Since when did Sainsburys supply a Data SIM?

Have you added the Sainsbury APN to the Connection Manager?

Well apparently it's not a data sim . I tried the tmobile sim that came with this mi fi and I was able to connect to my I phone and iPad. I m trying to find out if this mi fi is unlocked or not so I have the choice of what data sim I use. I d like a sim that I can use in it so I can use my phone and iPad.

I purchased a Huawei mifi from Tesco last year and it was locked to t-mobile. A cheap (99p) unlock code off ebay sorted that out.

You should check details of the mifi unit you purchased to see if any mention was made of it being locked but that would seem to be the likely cause of your problem.

Yes thanks nifty digits I saw that myself earlier and it is locked . I wanted a suitable sim for data for my iPad and be able to receive calls and do a bit of texting on my iPhone but I don t want anything where I spend so much every month. Maybe I want too much or maybe I ll get rid of my iPhone as I prefer the iPad out of the two , take the mi fi back and just use a cheaper phone that does n t use a nano sim lol Decision decisions.

    How much is "so much"?

You can buy an EE data SIM for £17, which lasts for up to 90 days.

How much are you looking to spend? and whats your current mobile tariff?

Im on the 3 one plan that includes talk, text & data allowance which can be tethered.. this would allow you to tether between iphone and ipad.

Thanks both as little as possible lol. Obviously I have my home broadband for the iPad but I do go away to Scotland for a couple of day a month so that is what I would like it for mainly but I don't think that warrants a lot spend per month.

Is there such a sim that would work my iPhone for the odd texts etc and data for my iPad if put in this mi fi unit ?
