The Courts banned me. but my licence says different

Options
Let me quickly explain (please don't mix the dates up)

in the summer 2013 june i was clocked by an officer doing 63 in a 30 zone
I was summon to court, just shy of 6 months I had a date of the 24th Feb 2014 to go to court. I sent my plea in by post to say guilty. They then responded by saying that they do not accept my plea by post and its a much more serious matter, that I should come to court.

they then gave me a date of the 27th march 2014 I was told by the judge that I will be banned for 21days and fined 270 total (including other costs)

sooo just today I got my license back from the court which i thought will be sent to dvla first for them to print onto my counter part that I am banned and the relevant dates to be put on

my license has this written on it BY HAND

CONVICTING COURT CODE - 2571
DATE OF CONVICTION - 24/02/14
OFFENCE CODE - SP30
DATE OF OFFENCE - 04/07/13
FINE - 165
DISQUAL PERIOD - 21DAYS

does that mean by ban is over already or have they made a mistake
and is there anyway i can check with the dvla

You could contact the DVLA and ask them to check the status of your driving licence (not sure what data protection information they would need to divulge this information).

It does appear that the courts have made a clerical error in that they have stated the starts on the date of your original court date rather than the rescheduled one. The only reason I can see why this might have happened is because you pleaded guilty. You would need to what happened on the 24th Feb, was the hearing opened and your plea entered and then adjourned for sentencing? This is the only thing I can think of (other than human error) which may account for it.

Do you own a vehicle that you hold insurance on?

For the next 19 days your insurance maybe invalid.

That's got to be wrong surely, otherwise wouldn't you retrospectively be guilty of driving without a valid license or something?

Conviction and sentencing dates are not always the same, your ban will start from the sentencing date.

Any insurance you have on any motor vehicle will be invalid for the duration of the disqualification, and you will obviously have to declare to your insurance company that you have been banned when renewing that insurance.

Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

May also have to tell them now. Would need to read the terms and conditions of their policy.

it was a duel carriageway over a fly over, no people can walk up there plus the speed limit was 60 before, but am sure you would never break the speed limit even in a 20 zone or a supermarket carpark 5mph where most people are likely to be hit by a car.

    anyways back to the topic,

I clicked the link in the 3 post but I have never used the online service to apply for my license so have to do it by post by filling in the D888 form.
going to send it off first thing Monday morning.

To get back to the point...

OP, ring the DVLA and ask what the current state of your licence is as it is quite likely that it shows you as being disqualified, unless the court sent the wrong date to them as well. Whether you want to ring the court and point out their mistake is up to you.
  • how can I ring DVLA, Which number do I ring. its a maze of numbers

I have filled the D888 form but no idea how long that will take.
